Yet as you must have experienced yourself when you were in another country, we can never research and learn everything ahead. How can you learn about what food to expect when you do not share the same cultural norm around the food in the first place? And how fair is it for you to be judged entirely based on your understanding about the food culture alone when there are hundreds of other facts and differences to learn about the new country/culture? In this way, I think it is extremely unfair to place all the blame onto this man alone. 3. At this point, I’d question: Why did the lady not communicate, much less explain, about what he is about to experience? Why is it his fault alone? Why was everything done with the violent assumptions that he would know how to do things in the exact way the locals do?
