im a driving instructor and i agree with most of what you say there wholeheartedly however the mock test can be a very useful tool if used properly imo. im not talking about doing one every few weeks but rather a single one a few weeks before the test. i find it helps the students as its usually their first experience of a test situation and id rather they see how it feels before they go in on the day as some can get very nervous. i also think that having a sheet marked with the faults that pop up in a test situation when they are under pressure can help see patterns and allow us to better target specific areas of weakness.. the rest i agree with 100%

I know when parking like that. I just have to keep it in the lines. Of the parking space properly. And that the vehicle is not near anything to.

I failed my first test on observation. I was observing like a maniac, but what I was doing was using my eyes to glance into the mirrors. What testers want to see apparently is you moving your entire head to look into the mirrors. Thats what I would advise learners. Even though your eyes can rotate to look into the mirrors, move your head too. Even though your eyes move faster then your neck does. Ridiculous.

I firmly believe the Gardai should be sitting on roundabouts issuing fines to people who fail to indicate, or indicate improperly on roundabouts. Especially the BMW/Audi drivers who seem to have no indicators at all. My biggest trigger is those who indicate right for say the third exit but take the second exit with indicating left after they have passed the last left exit. Infuriating. The Guards would pay their wages if they sat there ticketing people who give misleading signals.

Hello Dane. Your video is marvelous. I would have only a few questions: 1. I notice that when you were on the second bite and press the gas pedal but without releasing handbrake the revs were about 1200, while when you release the handbrake to move off you you increase the gas revs to about 1800 revs. If you didn't increase the gas revs and the gas revs remained 1200 instead of 1800, the car would have stalled or it's more likely that he would have only chonked off, but moved off? Does it depend from the steepness of hill? When I am about to release handbrake and move off, if the revs are only 1200- 1500, but I am in the second biting point, will the car stall? So the car after moving off in a hill loses immediately some revs after moving? 2. Is it possible and normal, in general, we can have a strong biting point to move off from a very steep hill lifting the clutch up to 85/90 % or is too much? 3. Anyway, regardless of the steepness of hill, It's never better to lift up all the clutch to move off in a hill (and even in the flatground)? Thank you very much for everything

Does this hold true if the roundabout is quite small (as in your first scenario) and the third exit is at the 12 O'Clock position with you coming in from the 6 O'Clock position.

When I was doing anther Driving Lesson. I was sapost to keep a better eye on. The parked cars on my left. And the right distance from them to. Incase if one did pull out or park? Or if a pedestrian went thru them or a animal? I got to observe properly especially by loosening up more. To see better.

I have a question as I’m watching all your videos and preparing for the test… if you are suddenly in 4th gear can you break and change to 2nd gear in a speed bump? Or the tester wants you to downgrade gears 3rd and then 2nd?

Hi Dane, just said I'd drop a line to let you know I passed my test over the weekend, and all credit must go to you. I had a very abrasive instructor for my lessons, and unceremoniously failed my mock test, but by watching your videos up until an hour before my test I managed to pass first time. Can't thank you enough!

I do love to wash myself and freshen before the test. Especially brushing my teeth. And to have a good breakfast to eat. And when I do make the mistakes. I know I should make a list of them. Especially about checking my mirrors before indicating. To remember for the next time. And I'm doing extra lessons with my Driving Instructor to. For more practice before I book myself for the Driving Test. And I will pass it and get my Full Drivers License then. And my own car to.

I've done my 12 Driving Lessons. But I'm doing more for more practice. Before I can book myself for the Driving Test. Since I do got to remember. And I will stay calm and relaxed as well when I do it. And I know it's not the end of the world. If I fail it to since there is always. The next time like what a lot of my family and friends did.

basically when you're driving you need to pretend like you're on O'Connell street about to get mugged and have a mental image of everything in front of you, behind you, and anticipate what might come out from around the corner.

Thank you for the brilliant video. I failed my test because I didn’t move in the centre as there was already a car in the junction. In what situations should I join the 1st car in the junction ? I always thought only 1 car can move in the middle while others wait behind stop line for 1st one to cross or move if a green filter arrow appears

So many motors in the door, wind shield, mirror X and Y axis, this probably weights a tonne. I remember when you had to manually roll down the window and there was a handle for the mirror not 10 servos and actuators

So in the 20 years that passes since I first used a car they still don't have polarized windshields and headlights. The idea was to use polarized lights so the cars don't blind each other

I thought the parking light is for when you park your car and want other people to see at night that there's a car poking out so they don't run into the back or side of it.

I think if there's frost on the window, first one would start the engine so that alternator is running and generating power, otherwise all of this heating will be hard on the battery.
