Very strange results in dragon's dogma 2 pc, digital foundry found a 26% improvement from launch to the latest patch for Zen2 CPUs, with a Ryzen 5 3600 running at 38/45fps in the city at max settings with rt on. Awesome coverage. I really did not expect such a major improvement for Dragon's Dogma 2 given the minor %10 boost to the CPU. Perhaps extra memory bandwidth helped but it will be really interesting to find out whether there is a bigger architectural upgrade as you suggest!

Digital Foundry said the PS4 enhancement doesn't work with film grain. They said whatever they're using doesn't know what to do with a grainy image, so it just looks the same.

Just as an fyi, you got the Stellar Blade kind of mixed up. The pro mode with pssr is a locked 60fps and people who have a 120fps, vrr display can run the game at 80fps in this mode. The Pro Max mode only runs 50fps and has a less stable image.

Go to WiFi settings and change PS5 pro auto to 6GHz.. 😎

Just fired up dragons dogma on PS5 PRO and noticed right away that LFC is not working anymore means that if the framerate goes below VRR range(48 fps)there is constant stuttering.Tried graphics and balance mode with RT and framerate was all over the place between 40-70 fps but when the framerate dropped below 48 fps in towns or in batlles stuttering appears.Perfomance PSSR running ok but the resolution is too low and the image quality is bad to play on this setting.Used to play on my PS5 at graphics mode at 35 to 45 fps but frametime was so smooth because the devs had implemented LFC(low frame rate compersation) 2 patches ago in the PS5 version and there were no stuttering at all smooth us butter. Now with PS5 Pro every time the framerate goes below the VRR range there is constant juddering and stuttering making the game unplayable for me.I dont know about you but for me even on balanced mode there are many FPS drops on Balanced mode below 48 fps is not smooth at all. Graphics mode was like 40 to 50 fps and Performance mode look like shit espesially the grass and very low resolution. At this state for me the game is unplayable cacpcom needs to fix this asap and implement LFC in the PS5 PRO version!

I sit 8 feet from a 77" OLED and 100" projection screen with JVC 4K projector in a dedicated media room. I very much doubt that I will discern a noticeable improvement with the PS5 Pro from regular seating distance and most people will not either (unless I am pixel peeping with my face 1 foot from the screen). I am more than happy with the launch PS5 (whose performance has not yet been fully maxed out despite being four years old) and I have no problem saving my money for the PS6 in 2028 (if I'm still playing video games, the video game industry absolutely sucks right now).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Alan Wake 2 performs better (closer to 60 fps) on the base console than it does in the new performance pro mode. These are the kind of changes I was worried about. Developers shouldn't patch out the old performance modes in my opinion. Hopefully the PS6 will be able to clean those issue up in bc mode.

FF7 is a different game now with PS5 Pro, I will now go and do my New Game+ hard mode playthrough. It's too intense for 30fps 😵‍💫

So basically if you have a PS5 base console, keep it. Got it, and if Sony get people to drop their current PS5 consoles for the Pro (people are sheep) then they will continue to do this quick scammer money grabs like Apple, all the things Pro ha should have came with the base console obviously they want extra cash, so enjoy.

Honestly the 2TB SSD is a huge improvement from the base model, it costs almost $500 CAD for a 4TB SSD expansion so considering that cost, I'd almost be tempted to get a PS5 Pro instead (I also have a 2TB M.2 expansion currently).
