Makayla has me bawling as she spoke about her 1st year of marriage and hubby, not knowing if he'd wake up to her lifeless body. I have a medically fragile daughter and that is my worst fear. Makayla is such a strong an positive woman. Thanks for sharing her story!

When I was really little, my grandmother took me to the Bintz pool in Johnson City. We only stood on the deck and watched but it was spectacular. I'll never forget it. That pool was torn down years ago. Was hoping Elmira would have better sense.

Come to Missouri! We still have two standing and operational Bintz pools - one in Chaffee, and one in Fayette. The pool in Fayette looks like it's been either restored or better cared for than Chaffee's, but both are beloved and open!! Both were Works Progress Administration projects as well.

I went there many , many times in the 60's. It was a dime to swim all day and a nickel for a frozen snickers bar. It was a simpler time.

Once I hear the term," public safety" I stop listening. That term is a wall. In golden Colorado where I now am, they filled in an entire pond due to public safety. Then coincidentally, a year later, there was a presidential rally in the same spot for O bama. If public safety was a real issue, would they fill in the Grand Canyon? someone might fall in

My Mother used to take all of kids there frequently, it was the way to beat the heat, and a chance for her to relax too. She was not a water person, but always encouraged us to swim. So sad to see the condition of it. I loved your Doc, very informative, and made me connect again to those memories of the past. Thank you for memories.

i was there many days every summer until i was 10 in the early 80s and my parents moved us to oklahoma cause jobs were gone in elmira. spent decades here without knowing that only 45 min away in a town called cushing,ok they had an identical binz pool to brand pool if i had only known i would have gone but i found out the year it was torn down they kept the facade of it as the entrance and the front of the deck and upper tanning deck to get to waterslides

Lived on Sly street for awhile. Haven’t been in Elmira since 2001. Sad that the pool closed even sadder that it will be gone for good.

Very insightful and thought-provoking video. It was interesting to hear Makayla's views on fashion being an extension of one's creativity since fashion happens to be an interest of mine as well and I've discovered the same things about it. Her positivity and creativity are very inspirational as well. I also like the filming and editing techniques you used for this project and your commentary is interesting too.

I'm glad you were able to make a documentary on this pool. You certainly know way more about it than I initially did, and it's obvious you put a good bit of research into this. The Brand Park pool always seemed like a unique design to me, and I wasn't aware of much of its history before now. Great video!

Caleb, For a young person to care about the history of Brand Park Pool you did an awesome job! This is the best history video ever that I've seen on Brand Park Pool. I grew up in the area and spent many days at the pool in the 60's, also where I learned how to swim. Thank you for this video, I love hearing the history of my hometown.

For many years, this was the focus of summer recreation activities for kids in my neighborhood. I remember some days going to the pool 3 times. Mornings were for swimming lessons. We'd return at 1 PM, for fun all afternoon. And on rare occasions, we'd return to swim in the evening from 6-8 PM. Brand Park Pool was literally the center of attention for so many kids all summer long. It was safe to walk to the pool without adults. It was safe in the pool in the late 1960s and the 1970s. I

I love footage and vlogs of abandoned spaces, but this was a leap into a new space and far more in depth than those usually do. Typically it feels like those videos dont tell the story of what’s being explored, so this was refreshingly full

It makes me wonder if Prayer Clock was the reason for the bible audio disappearing. Some sort of deal struck up perhaps in regards to rights to use said clips "Exclusive for clocks" Either way this was pretty funny XD
