The days when Welsh clubs could compete and win in europe and ponty were as hard and uncompromising as it got taking big scalps

Criminal what was done to ponty by wru … wru doing their very best to make domestic welsh rugby as primitive and as unsupported as possible alienating what used to be heavily supported rugby community’s like Pontypridd once was…

its been a long old time both these proud clubs have had such a bevie of welsh internationals.

A disgrace of a game which should have been called off by the referee when it was obvious both teams came to fight and not play rugby.

Reflecting back, some of the morons, idiots, and general scumbags we had in the game hiding behind this "hardman" mantra was killing our game.

Much higher standard of rugby by both sides than the current game, even up to international level. Some breathtaking rugby, especially in these conditions.

Typical Ponty supporter, not showing any of Cross Keys dominance.

Bridgend won the game 17 v 0. I know because I went to the game. It was the night before the general election of 1997.

Those were the days when a Leicester fan assured me that Ponty were on a hiding to nothing! ps Is that the dulcet tones of the Scarlet JJ Williams that I hear?

Size of the crowd back then compared to today .. ponty had a huge following and Scarletts don't even get close to those crowd numbers today when they have a home game... wru ruined domestic rugby for so many towns and villages .. back in the day ponty town would be buzzing with the amount of fans going to the game .. not any more ..

I can only assume you must have just accidentally forgot about Martin Williams? Because there's been no better 7 than the nugget to ever grace the jersey...
