They have 2 endings: Good ending: you got all chaos emeralds and defeat eggman. Normal ending: You defeat eggman, but you didn't have all the emeralds.

Its not a true ending its just a good ending and the bad ending is that robotnik got the chaos emeralds

@@kiryu286 they were different games, but sonic & knuckles had some lock on technology so you can connect it to the sonic 3 cartridge so you can combine them. Sonic & Knuckles took place after sonic 3

When I was a kid and there was no internet or KZbin, you couldn't verify anything. I wasn't good enough to get all the Emeralds. My friend Ned told me DUDE IF YOU BEAT THE GAME WITH ALL THE EMERALDS YOU FLY AS SUPER SONIC IT'S INSANE I didn't believe him. I'm sorry Ned, you were right.

I think that for this ending they should've had the start play as the bad ending cutscene to make the player think that they failed, but at 1:27 when Tails and Sonic go off-screen, Sonic turns into Super Sonic and the game ends, it would be a nice twist.
