At 12:41, Carol was described as a direct inspiration for Cole McCartney with his playing on Street Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band though. It's the irony of AI doing its best in vocalizing the career of an epic studio ghost player that I find most hard to be ok with. Strap in tight everyone, it's going to be a rough ride.

who is the girl on this show who thinks Aerosmith did a farewell tour ? ! she needs to do some research before talking on the radio. Cronin doesnt think Hall can cut it live anymore , Matt is miles better than Hall at the moment. it is that simple, REO is done and Cronin will play the songs and it will be great. Hall should retire and allow REO to tour and he would still earn along with Neal, now they will get zero $ from touring.

You guys clearly are not aware of the backstory. Bruce Hall did not quit. He left temporarily with every intention of returning to the band when he recovered from his back surgery. Bruce Hall was ready to return and Kevin would not allow it. Neal retired and apparently the new keyboardist had his blessing. REO was all set, but Kevin didn't want to send Matt Bissonette packing. He simply wanted to continue without Bruce Hall. So this idea that somehow Bruce is retired is grossly incorrect. It's easy to form opinions like yours when you don't have the facts.

I lived in South Bend, Indiana for my senior year of high school, graduating in 1963. I heard Dick Biondi of WLS Chicago play the first Beatles song (Please Please Me) on a major radio station on an early February Saturday night in 1963. By the summer of 1965, I lived and worked in Nashville, TN. I was building a record album collection that included virtually every song you mentioned in this video. I still have every one of those albums. I joined the Navy in September 1965 and turned 20 in November. I started learning to play guitar in Guantanamo Bay in early 1968 and formed a band while on the USS Independence in early 1969. The songs we played included many from 1965 because they were still popular and relevant.

Tommy Tedesco was brought in as a ~ 1973 Howard Roberts lead guitar seminar guest. Both guys were genuinely open, honest and truly inspirational in their dedication to helping others with no ego games whatsoever. Tommy literally started out while unemployed, sitting on his couch in front of daytime TV working endlessly through exercises, theory and learning to read music. His ruthlessly dedicated efforts resulted in gaining notoriety and acceptance into the LA session world to the point of being one of the very top guitar session players, in part because he'd also become very skilled at chart reading. He said to not be intimidated by the charts - only very rarely does the composer understand what is actually playable by the musician on a guitar. So he said just play one or two of the chord notes on the 1st run-through, the next ad another note etc. Usually by the 3rd run-through you'll be familiar enough with the piece you'll be playing solidly along with the rest of the musicians. The conductor accepts that the session players know how and are capable of, translating the chart into the best version of playing their instruments, which is why they keep getting called in as session players.

Howard Roberts played the guitar part on The Twilight Zone, not Tommy.
@violao2063 ай бұрын
Ya beat me to the punch! Howard's son, Jay Roberts is a pal of mine and so I knew that fact directly from him. One of his bandmates was traveling though Las Vegas, and was flummoxed to find a particular Fender Telecaster at a pawn shop. The back of the Tele had H.R. carved on the backside. Howard would carve on his guitar during the long sessions. That dude bought the guitar and gave it to Jay saying, "Here, I believe this belongs to you." It was the very instrument that Howard used on the Twilight Zone track. And also they left out the reason why Tommy was teaching at Musicians Institute. It was Howard Roberts along with Seattle heavy weight guitarist Don Mock who founded that school. Like his father, Jay also founded his own school, The Roberts Music Institute. Jay, and my other pal, Portland killer Jay Koder (Chick Korea, Jeff Lorber, Curtis Salgado, and many others) were both taught by Howard Roberts One of the primary reasons I have ever taught guitar myself is Jay Roberts wagging his finger at me at a jam session telling me I must teach and give back. He was right and so I have taken on students over the years when I could. Frankly, Jay is so killer that I would greatly benefit from some master lessons from him! Another fun fact: Local drum shop owner Donn Bennett brought Wrecking Crew legend Hal Blaine out to one of our house gigs. It was a Brasilian Jazz trio with an old ex-bandmate from another group on guitar, my twin brother on drums, and me on bass. Hal was super sweet and quite complimentary of my playing and solos. What a mensch that he was.

One of my favorite songs. I did not really listen to Stevie Nicks until a few years ago, when I finally gave the Nicks/Buckingham version of Fleetwood Mac a study. I am amazed at how my own ignorance kept me away from this music for 40+ years. I particularly liked the group's sound when performing live. There are very few people who are willing put so much of themselves into their vocals where they cross the line and risk damage to their vocal chords in pursuit of fully expressing themselves ( Aretha, Janis, Gracie, Ella, Billie Holiday, Maria Callas). In my mind, Stevie belongs in that great company. I watched her live this summer in Chicago, thanks to my lovely wife. Thankfully , there was no permanent apparent damage to Stevie voice, although she has toned it down some.
