1. Uke can't give a knee strike in the head from that body position. Plus Uke's arm and both of Tori's arms are in front of them. The actual issues would be that uke can pull tori towards him and tori loses balance and falls down. 2. What the hell are you talking about?! Uke is coming to grab him, tori sees the arm, goes in body sideways (getting out of the way of the attack) grabs the arm and slams it down immediately. That's how you should be practicing. What would be your alternative to Tori's body movement?

Aikido is moving wave motion, the steps and hand movements to be coherent and in harmony. Aikido seems soft but powerful in combat if the master has good Qi.

why wait for someone to attack so you can wrist twist them when u can ko them with a punch. Also in the video the person threw themselves on purpose. If he didnt, his wrist would be twisted till broken and he would be taken down

i think maybe if they uppercut you, you can redirect their energy while you dodge and do the move in the video

One of the masters that is not sadisticly torturing the pupils, helas too much japanese aikido masters do this. Like Stevan Segal..now when he is old, alow and fat, he strikes his oponents with haito uke more than other techniques. And he never forgets to show "the oponent" where to strike shomen uchi.

For the selfdefence: firstly no one is going to attack you with shomen uchi! Secondly: yoi can never make kote gaeshi to really strong mobile man... Sorry, but I know what I am talking about beeing six years a doorman

Every martial.artist i think agree that basic techniques are different than practical ones, we don't say to a kindergarten that what you are learning is BS, once we mature we know how to compose speeches and then choose our words :) hence Bruce Lee said: Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is essentially your own" (tho originally quoted in Mao Tse Tung's writing). Shomenuchi means overhand or overhead attack, it's not just empty handed, we expect ot to be a tanto (short sword), that's why we move to the side to avoid being sliced when the opponent attack is stronger/faster. If it won't work for some reason, we have "henka waza" which means changing techniques, changing it to any appropriate technique given the situation. Thanks for the comment anyway :)

@@Aikido_alshehri dude unless you are massively stronger than your opponent you won't be able to do any of that. This is not a good martial art for anyone who doesn't have strong leg and grip strength you won't be able to move people around like that unless they are clueless idiots.

What is making him flip rather than just spraining or hurting his arm? Are there trips involved?
@aikidoaikikaisaudiarabiama3851
@aikidoaikikaisaudiarabiama3851 2 жыл бұрын
Usually in Aikido "demo", the easiest/fastest and perhaps safest way out of a wrist/forearm twist (kote-gaeshi) in a fast-paced application is the flip. In a budo application, the uke can also be controlled in various ways using thè same technique suppressing him from flipping/exiting the technique and maximizing the pressure on the wrist.
