Stationed there 69 to 71 and we only had Army personnel working there I believe, and we were very short handed.

I worked there in the 80’s I believe the two towers that were on either side of the area you walked in on were towers 6 and 7. When I was there tower 8 was not in use and the next two 9 and 10 were above west gate. Tower 1 and 12 were up front and from 12 you could see the barracks
@1111Paiste2 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! I believe it was the same when I was there, tower 8 was not in use. It was a fascinating assignment. There's an interesting book on the USDB and its history, up until they demolished the old barracks built the new facilities. It's the 'Images of America' series and its title is "United States Disciplinary Barracks" by Peter J. Grande".

I was an Army guard MP there from July 1972 to January 1974, 2 years drafted. That was my room in the upper left 0:20, I sometimes barbequed on the balcony. Sure brings back memories.

I was here 25 years ago, 705th MP BN. Lived in this building, a lot of memories! Ironically I am in Leavenworth today and got to see this and go back inside the walls. Thank you for posting this!

Thanks for your comment! Pretty wild to be back there, huh? If you’re interested, pick up the book “United States Disciplinary Barracks” by Peter J Grande. Lots of never before seen photos.

Stationed there and worked in that building. Remember the bowling alley in the basement? They refurbished it while I was there and made it operational.

So I've watched all 6 of your videos about the USDB and found them interesting as back in the late 70's early 80's can't remember exactly I was a guest there and actually found the place very interesting also the staff was always professional as you know USDB is unlike any prison in the US as even though we were prisoner's we still had our military bearing anyway thanks for posting I only wish someone had made a full documentary about USDB with a detailed look at the castle before it was demolished because it in it's self was a masterpiece of it's day...........
@1111Paiste Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching. It was disappointing to me as well that they tore the old castle down but it was beyond repair and parts of it was falling down and hurting inmates and some staff. I learned this from talking to the author of the book United States Disciplinary Barracks, Peter J Grande (I purchased his book from Amazon). It’s a fascinating look at the history of the USDB with many never seen before photos. It was by far my most fascinating and educational assignment while serving in the USAF. I too wish they had made a documentary about the castle, and how it functioned on the inside, before it was torn down. Best, Jimi

@@jgsimon Fascinating! I wouldn't be surprised if that building is haunted, a lot of weird things happened in that building I'm sure. I lived in building 429 when I was there in 1990/91, on the 2nd floor. Do they still use building 429 - 801 Bluntville?

I just ordered a double kick pad and was sent a black one. Does it appear to you that there's some kind of thin film over the kick side of the pad? The white kick pad definitely doesn't feel like this and I've been trying to see if any film will peel from the pad.
@1111Paiste2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. No, I don't have a film on the black one...maybe some Goo-Gone could help get that off? Is it making the surface on the pad sticky?
@SteveThaDrummer2 жыл бұрын
@@1111Paiste it definitely feels as if it's intended to be on there. Tried peeling it a bit more but the kevlar started to fray. A long time ago you could specifically order a black, white or beige pad but seems everyone that sells them says Remo sends whatever. I might have to start buying these in person.

I have the full range of L80s now and a Silent Stroke on the snare. Only problem is it's hard to roll on the Silent Stroke. Either I haven't worked out how to tune the snare to get the most out of the mesh head or you can't roll on it as easily as a normal snare head.
@Bonsonnaorem5 жыл бұрын
How is the feeling, is it like closer to mesh head or something like drumming in rubber?
@1111Paiste4 жыл бұрын
It’s a mesh head so it doesn’t feel as natural as one would want (in comparison to real drum heads). They are better than rubber pads. IMHO

hey JR. Do the Silentstrokes damage your drums at all? ive heard rumours about this its put me off buying them. if you could answer id greatly appreciate it. thanks :D
@1111Paiste8 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, Thanks for asking! My experience has been that the SS heads do NOT damage the drums in any way. They pull on drum shells just like regular heads do. I would think the SS heads conform even more so to the the drum than a plastic head does. I highly recommend these heads...and the L 80s cymbals for super quiet playing. Best! Jim

+JR Alliso Thanks for your answer Jim. I think ill go with the silentstrokes instead of some drum mutes. Thanks again for the answer and happy drumming ;)
