I swear, when I did it without a Vita memory card and the guide didn't say that you have to redo the browser exploit again and I found that out from searching it, I was like: "Why has no one clearly said this?" So I had to include it in this video.

I'm happy with how simple-ish the fix was, because otherwise, I was going to case swap it, but I really do like it when I can keep the original motherboard with the original case when it comes to things like this.

Fair. After I got it working though, there's really not much else to say about it. It runs UnleashX and can read disks no problem. I couldn't show it with the error code 16, because I forgot to do that before I fixed it.

Honestly I do watch quite a few "fixing old tech" kind of videos maybe I was expecting too much from this, but it did feel like a good one of those videos at the start. "Can I fix a PAL Region Crystal Xbox?" well you can watch me swap a PSU then read a short story about the rest.

@@dpowerful1 When you put it that way, it does kind of suck and makes it unsatisfying, but I figured... it's better to put something out rather than just continuing to sit on the footage, so I did just that.... (Plus I only have so much time to do these things, so I just pushed it out without thinking too much about it, but also explaining how I fixed it, since I didn't actively show what I did to fix it, since I've been holding onto this console and the footage for months) You know what though... Most likely, yes, but there isn't a: "PAL" option per se, but you have to select a country in the PAL region and it should adjust accordingly.

Yup, with both of the grey ends plugged into both GBAs according to research and theory, but I unfortunately do not have two OEM cables to actually document and prove this on video.

I believe you must CFW the system in order to do this and I believe that the reasons are partly because: 1. Hen doesn't have the tools to do this 2. Hen isn't persistent on boot up as you know that you have to run the Hen shortcut to re-enable all your homebrew related things and so because of this, you can't just temporarily change the disk drive region while it is running as it requires a restart as shown in my video. Thus, it would pretty much require that you modify the system software and keep it that way every time you start up the system, because restarting the PS3 would make you lose your HEN capability again. I believe what I am doing in my video actually modifies the NAND Flash to change the disk drive region (but I could be wrong about that).

I will likely make a follow up video on this (and a few others) because in the short week that I've had this thing, I learned A LOT about the Vita in such a short amount of time. I was just waiting for my charging cable and my SD2Vita to arrive before I could really play with the system.

@@N68dodgeboyno only that , but there is also a ton of apps and plugins that will make the vita experience more fun and enjoyable like overclocking for best performance, vitabright to increase or decrease the brightness of the vita above or below the normal settings, and there is even one that helps with stick drift

Huh. Interesting... As you can see though, it seems as though region changing a PS3's region via software is kind of buggy. Perhaps it may take a few attempts of trying to set the dvd region from Japan to NA and that could fix it? I can't say I know for sure though, but I swear when I did this and tried to set the region from Japan to North America, it didn't work for me the first time I did it. I was pretty happy when I did it again the second time and then it worked... Maybe I'm remebering wrong, but maybe I also changed the region to PAL (UK) and then back to Japan and then back to NA? I haven't touched these settings in a while.

I also have A00 Frankie and Pal dvd’s work fine with DEX, but no NTSC dvd’s. Blu rays don’t have any problems. Kinda weird

Nope. Like I said in the video, I scanned the installer.exe with a paid bitdefender anti-virus subscription and have had no issues. I still have New Club Penguin installed on PC actually and still no problems, I just haven't really played it much.

Thank-you for your question. I haven't tried this for the DVD region specifically as I've really only used this PS3 to play PS2 games in HDMI easily... So truthfully, I'm not sure what to do about that, but you could try to change the region again and see if it would work. I don't know if it's a thing with Evilnat or not, but like I said in the video, when I tried to change my region from Japan to NA for PS2 games specifically, it wouldn't read my NA PS2 disks until I changed it back to Japan and then back to NA and then it worked. I thought maybe it was maybe something weird with my PS3. I apologize if my answer isn't very helpful. I think Mr.Mario2011 has a video on this...

I wish I could provide an answer for this, but I personally haven't really messed with my two CFW'd PS3's and their online functionality as I haven't gotten around to doing so. It should be pretty simple and straightforward, but I just haven't tried it myself. I also plan to maybe make a video on how to have CFW and play online without being banned, but I just haven't gotten around to making an alt PSN account just in case I mess anything up or make any mistakes. I would not want to get my main account banned, because I was tinkering with CFW. Also CFW ≠ Hen Hen is a HFW (Hybrid Firmware), meaning it can go from being modded and then back to stock. I also have not personally used PS3 HEN, because I wanted to keep my Super Slim completely stock for Trophies and Online play for my main account and since I have PS3s that can be CFW'd, I haven't bothered messing with PS3 Hen since a CFW'd PS3 inherently gives you more options and control over the console than a HEN enabled PS3 at least as far as I know and understand it.

After the PS5 launched, Sony has basically given up doing anything on the PS3 aside from updating the Blu-Ray encryption keys. Practically speaking, there's no ban risk anymore. If you are paranoid and still want to "play it safe", deleting your boot history logs would make it safer to go online, yes. Sony basically never auto-banned people the moment they used CFW, they instead scanned people's boot logs to see what apps they've fired up and such. After a while, a bunch of people would be caught in ban waves. We haven't seen any ban waves like that in a while though.

it looks like you may need to set the color range to either limited or full depending on what it's currently set to. Seems like the black levels are too bright

@@Fishy_Chameleon Thank-you for your opinion on this Fishy. I will look into it and maybe do another test with this game. I will try to save a replay from a campaign event on Friday. I know that my component converter has a switch on it for the component input side and it can be toggled between YPbR and RGB. I think I had it set to YPbR mode, but worst case scenario, if switching it doesn't make the footage darker, I may be able to adjust this in Davinci Resolve. Or perhaps it has to do with how I configured the HDMI adapter in OBS... I'm not sure really.

@@N68dodgeboy I think it has to do with the HDMI adapter, under properties there should be an option called "Color Range" I'd recommend setting that to "full" and see if that makes the image darker any. You won't be able to adjust levels in editing to fix it as it's more than just brightness. Not too important tho, just something I noticed

HDD ready is the issue. These HDD ready copies tend to use what is known as: Action Control List (ACL) Patching which tends to do things to mess with the game's ability to connect to Xbox Live. Honestly, playing from a disk copy would be the easiest way to play as long as you have a disk drive that works... Compared to buying this game on Dreamcast or Gamecube, the disk copy on Xbox is ~$30 - $40

Halo 2 cannot currently be played over Insignia in any shape or form, because Halo 2 requires more functions of Xbox Live to be reverse engineered by the Insignia dev team. That being said, if the game were supported, then yes, you'd be able to play online whether you play from HDD or a burned disk or even a standard retail copy which goes for really cheap around ~$14 in my currency. Your only options right now to play Halo 2 are either: 1. You play with the MCC on PC or Xbox 2. You play over "LAN" using tunneling software known as: "X-Link Kai", which can also be used on Xbox 360.
