Great video! I was wondering when you re-insert the axle into the transmission is there a need to align the C-clip so the open part is facing upwards? I've heard from other Honda videos you're supposed to do that. But not sure if true.

I tried growing chayote here in Central Portland (zone 9) and it never survived a mild winter, even though it's supposed to be a zone 8 survivor. What did I do wr?
@vw64manyrd
@vw64manyrd Жыл бұрын
Ours do not survive either. Just keep a few in the house over winter. They will sprout and send out runners and you can transplant them to pots and then outside in spring. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the informative video 👍 I’ll be rebuilding the whole front suspension with new CV axles on my 97 Accord SE with over 230,000 miles on the clock. She’s my daily commuter for work with a RT of 132 miles 4 days a week. So, it’s time for some tender loving care for her. These Hondas will last forever with good periodic maintenance. Recently re-ringed the engine and reconditioned the cylinder head. She now runs like a clock. Hopefully I’ll get another 200,000 mile until I retire in 5 years 😁

BUT,,,,, the top and bottom caliper pins require lubrication. The proper way is to remove the flexible brake line, replace it at 100k miles with factory MOPAR lines from the dealer, only a few bucks more than aftermarket crap.....and the bulb style line flares are the correct lines. Keep your master cylinder topped off with DOT 3 brake fluid. Get your brass crush washers from NAPA, a box of them for around $10 will keep you going for years, the dealer wants $6.50 EACH!... And buy a brake bleeder, its easy! Lube all the pins, and areas where the brake pads will slide on the provided steel clips and all areas where the pads contact the caliper and piston. Dont forget to wire brush all the dust and rust bits, air blow it all and use aerosol brake cleaner ... Just a tiny bit of crap can misalign your new brake rebuild! I too waited until my wifes brake pads were done because of this crappy design.... What were you thinking Chrysler idiots? Oh, one more thing. Your emergency brake can also be adjusted when the caliper is removed. Simply pull the rotor off and adjust the star adjuster out a few clicks at a time, put the rotor back on and spin it,,, go until you have the brake rubbing then, roll the star back in a few clicks... Done!

@@vw64manyrd Sorry, I dont do auto videos. Please dont take my reply wrong as Im not coming down on you for a quick pad change. I just see it as a half done job... The caliper needs lubrication to keep itself aligned. The emergency brake requires occasional adjustment and the flexible brake line will not fail in your driveway but, out in the highway and when the inner lining collapse's and allows fluid to the caliper but, not return,,, you are screwed and will smoke your brake system and, in for a major brake pad, rotor, caliper AND flex line replacement.... But, your choice.
