This is such a packed word, I was thinking about this on my way to church this morning. Its so easy to misinterpret that God given feeling of peace in the season of expectation, waiting and seeking.

A Gift for You 🎁 Scripture References 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” ~Joshua 1:7-9 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Joshua the new young commander was encouraged by God to be strong and very courageous, for once He was steadfast in obedience and focus on God, God would never depart from Him, but be with Him, wherever He went. This strength and courage doesn't come from self-confidence as the world teaches, but it comes from a sure confidence in the identity, character and power of God who lives in us through His Son Christ Jesus, who has deposited the Holy Spirit in us, so that we can call on the Power of God to do His will. In like manner, Paul encourages Timothy to fan into flame this same gift, reminding young Timothy that the Spirit of God doesn't make us timid/fearful, but grants us 1. power/courage/authority 2. love 3. self-discipline/self-control/a sound mind This is important because it can help us to know whether we are walking in the flesh/self or walking in the Spirit. When our actions and decisions are mainly directed by self-preservation, fear, cautiousness and timidity, we can be guaranteed that we are walking in the flesh. We have not fully submitted ourselves to the purpose that God has called us to fulfill and have not acknowledged that it's by His Power that we find courage, strength, love and self-discipline. When we accept and fan into flame the gift of God, the Holy Spirit working within us, by the same Spirit we can walk in 1. power/courage/authority 2. Love 3. Self-control/self-discipline/a sound mind How can we walk this way? Paul says it best; "For I know, who I believed and I'm persuaded that He is able, to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day." Reflection What areas are you walking in the flesh and what are the fruits it has produced? What areas are you walking in the Spirit, and how can you fan into flame that gift, for it to consume you and produce abundant fruit? Have a lovely day, and may the Power of Christ continue to bless and keep you.
