Nice video. Do you need to do anything to the gear shifter in the car at all? Like lock it in to neutral? Or is it just a case of doing the work in the engine bay and swapping the shifter part out for a new kit?
@SlickRick3656 күн бұрын
Naaa mate, no need to lock the shifter in position - the only thing to be cautious of is the position of the little notch/cutout in the shifter itself as mentioned in the vid - you just have to ensure those line up otherwise you could do some damage to the shifter or to the spline on the gearbox, or both! - by forcing it on in a position that wasn't intended - So double, double check before you commit - but if those are aligned, you're gold! Hope that help you bro!

Genuine question bud that little bit of fuel you wiped up at the end would you consider that to be a leak or just excess from spillage ?
@SlickRick3652 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply mate... the honest answer was maybe? 🧐 I left as it was, to keep an eye on it - we use the car all the time, the plan was to drive it a few times and monitor it... once everything had settled down it stopped - might have been a bit of air escape? Its absolutely fine now. 😎 I resisted the temptation to nip the screws up even tighter - last thing i wanted was to strip the threads 👍 Does that help. I think if you have experienced the same thing, i'd undo it again, make sure the filter is seated correctly and nothing is trapped, then re-nip the screws up.

@@simonfearing4907 You did the right thing mate, well done 👏- if in doubt, check it out! My advice to anyone would be, always double check visually the new and the old is possible before you install or remove anything... Check part numbers three times lol.

Thanks for another great video showing how to do another modification I also have on the list for for my 1.8t for track days. The quality of that sump looks superb.

The sump was a bit of porn to be honest - in the flesh, its actually quite a beautiful bit of kit - pricey maybe, but i think a worthwhile investment!

Your engine bay looks super clean as does the rest of the car. How have the temperatures been since the upgrade? I really enjoyed this video and think it is a very helpful guide. I have a mk4 platform A3 1.8t and have been considering upgrading the radiator when I install a FMIC. I'm planning to change my Forge sidemount to a FMIC next weekend because my intake air temps are getting too high on tracks and am thinking while I'm in there might do this too so was very helpful to watch.

Thanks so much for the kind words mate - the car ive had for years now and been chipping away at it pretty much constantly, with a twek here and an upgrade there - im just glad the video was useful! Ive also got the Forge Side mount IC... Temperatures under the bonnet have been perfect! Warms up nice and quick and stays bang on 90 all the time - i have noticed the fan not kicking in as much... ive done 1 track day in it since it was done - it was perfect! no dramas at all - i guess thats how you know its working, when nothing happens lol

@SlickRick365 Жыл бұрын
Hey man - sorry, i missed this comment... it was hard to pin point to be honest, it was like all cylinders, all at once - seriously down on power... does that help? I knew the common issue o these engines was the ignition amp, it was a good place to start - fortunately, it solved the issue and has been perfect ever since.

Oil pick up pipe in sump
@SlickRick365 Жыл бұрын
interestingly, ive had the red oil light flash on recently too... over the years ive ran various 'cleaners' through prior to an oil change, but i might have to crack the sump off and take a look. I did chance the oil pressure switch which cured it for it a bit, but its back. Another thing ive noticed too is the service light flashes on whenever it wants? I started to think it was an electrical issue...

Maybe it broke because its supposed to be fitted on/in the stock airbox. Cool air flows passed it that way. I think because yours is just hanging there it doesn't get cooled enough.
