Do you prefer a RTT like this compared to a popup truck camper like Oru, GFC, or Super Pacific? Campers seem so expensive and permanent. Do you think this FSR tent could fit on a Subaru with an upgraded roof rack? Thanks!!!
@OXFOOT10 сағат бұрын
It would likely fit on a Subaru with a regular rack but the issue is weight. Subarus for what ever reason have a low roof weight rating so you could likely do my tent but you are at your limit. If you arent like 6’0 + the aspen lite will fit on the Subaru no issues.
@OXFOOT10 сағат бұрын
Yeah I don’t love campers, it’s better than a RTT and topper for only camp with it but I’d rather have the topper and tent and be able to remove the tent if I need to.

I wanted to go with a RTT but I don't think it's a great option as a dog owner :/
@OXFOOT10 сағат бұрын
Yeah I mean you can get those mats that go over the ladder but that’s assuming your dog with go up them and not be terrified. I know people that do it but if your dog doesn’t like being picked up or is too big it may not be worth the risk.
@b.37137 сағат бұрын
@@OXFOOT I've had her start to cimb a ladder once, my concern is more getting her down. I've never heard of those mats, I'll have to look them up. This is a super nice RTT, wouldn't mind having one.

As always such a thorough review brother. Literally my favorite channel for gear reviews and this man is a fellow tundra bro 😂 that damn sand color is one of my deepest loves… army green, sand, mesquite brown and voodoo blue are probably my favourite colors… I have an 18 limited, I couldn’t find a voodoo blue but I got mesquite brown and I love her so much… but man, Toyota had some a amazing colors… OH! Cement/lunar rock I think it was called was amazing as well. My sister the slacker has an army green trd pro sequoia. I went off topic here but damn it I’m talking Toyota! 😂
@OXFOOT5 сағат бұрын
I modeled my build off of a mesquite build I found before I bought my truck. The only difference was this one had a smart cap on it, which who knows, I may go with one day but yeah I think that one is underrated. I love the color on mine but I do think the army green is the best. I found one in a double cab but I didn’t want to fly all the way to NC to get it. It’s certainly my favorite. I really like the new mud bath color on the 2025 Toyotas also, somewhere between the mesquite and the quicksand.

Imo RTT is the best way to camp in an overland style of traveling. Most overlanders spend a good bit of coin either on their vehicle choice or the modification to an affordable vehicle. Either way you’re spending money why stop at a hammock or ground tent. The only reason I’d go that route if I was a dedicated backpack camper

I have the aspen lite and love it. Best tent I have owned (3rd one). The way they designed it you can stand up in it. Down side is no mounting on the side of the tent. I ordered the cross bars.
@OXFOOT4 күн бұрын
Yeah o saw the crossbars in person, it looks so good on the tent. Probably most things you want to mount on the side (other than awnings) will mount up there. Might do the Aspen Lite on our forester.

I like the orientation of this tent. Make a bit more sense for sleeping length wise, rather than with your feet in the wedge.

I can stand up in my Aspen lite and I can still use my mattress fully, on either end. That high hinge really helps
@OXFOOT4 күн бұрын
Okay well I’ll have to try that out. In previous clam shells I’ve had the part where the hinge is, it’s usually very tight. Maybe I’ll run another tent if theirs on my GFs car if this video does well.

I have that chair from Aliexpress and similar table.
