We just have to overcome our devices which were meant for good but have become just vices comforting us wit the weakest part of our nature feeling! Weather physical eg. porn or emotional drama social media/ tv. We are easily manipulated by our emotions lust,hate,greed,jealousy. Love is not an emotion it’s an action, to deny your wants for the sake of others.. I am included in that so I can see it I still want that comfort of relax and release. However, it's not the tribe / family and better distribution of resources that Bramley was after ----- it was spiritual ascendancy! I read it, too. William Bramley is a pen name, so he or she didn't have to risk everything to get the book out. There's a chapter on Bramley in Jonathan Vankin's book Conspiracies, Cover-Ups, and Crimes from the 90s. All these weird systems we inhabit. . . . Can they be fully explained, in principle, by conventional social sciences, economics, biology, etc.? I do not mean this as a rhetorical question. It's a seemingly crazy question (depending on your background and starting assumptions) worth asking.
