The best FX and most unforgetable FX routine belongs to LILIA PODKOPEYA Why? Her front tumbling technique is flawless- it is a true study in technique, biomechanics( to perfection), execution and amplitude! Then she does 2 MORE things that seperate her-- her dance is choreographed by someone who is a VERY professional at Ballet, she FULLY demonstrates her ability to tumble at the HIGHEST levels--- backward-- her full-in backout is so high! Now -- for the "coup de grace"---- the FX routine you SHOULD watch is -- 1996 Atlanta Olympic games---this is where the REAL and final seperation where she distinguishes herself; The SPRINGS UNDER THE --FX are AT LEAST - 2 TIMES --- SMALLER that is a ----MINIMUM! At the 2000 Sydney olympics the Srpings are 2 X bigger- where you show Raducan--- the springs ARE MUCH Bigger -- and they GET 2 TIMES BIGGER in 2007 -- where you show Sacramone! At the time of Podcopyeva' 96 routine the FX SPRINGS were NO MORE than- 2 and 1/2 inches in height and had a range allowing for to 2 and 6/8 in height! The springs were ALSO -- NARROW and TESTED repeatedly for how much coil they would allow! By 2007 ( Sacramone) the springs were WELL over 3 1/2 inches in height AND the engineering of those springs --- in WIDTH AND ability to COIL( giving MUCH more SPRING) were much WIDER and much more spring than the 1996 springs under the FX!

Davis and White were so good, that the quality of their skates can not be duplicated/matched by the current USA Ice Dancing teams.

This was really an exceptional montage, lilylia - beautifully done. It is so difficult to believe they are not a romantic couple, although, sadly, they are not. They do love each other, but it's platonic - Charlie is married already to Tanith Belbin of Belbin and Agosto ice dancing fame and Meryl was recently engaged to the son of their coach, Marina Zueva. I really love watching Meryl and Charlie dance and wish them all the happiness in the world. Their dedication to their talent and to their country is inspirational.

Gymnastics to about 1984. Gorgeous. After that a difficult tumbling and choppy, aerobic movement substituting for dance. Ugh.

I have watched this numerous times, and it still thrills me as much as the first. A great job of setting superb skating segments to a song beautifully sung -- as if Meryl and Charlie were skating to it originally. Many thanks to the skaters, the singer, and the one who synthesized it for the joy it brings years after the original performances.
