I worked in the great western hotel on the esplanade as a chef from 1972 1975 loved Oban but it’s very commercial now shame I personally think tourism has ruined OBAN

Who built and owns this large house on Kerrera, directly across from Oban Bay? In all the years, when I was growing up in the Oban area, I could never solve this puzzle out! ....................old Tich.

I took this trip in the summer of 1973, just over 47 years ago. I was a young man just released from service in the US Army in Germany. Oban was beautiful. Mull was beautiful. The Scottish people were beautiful. The "midges" were not. I learned about midges when my girlfriend and I tried to set up our tent in a field at the edge of town. That lasted about 10 seconds. We spent the night at the local bed and breakfast putting salve on our bites. Other than that, I have fond, fond memories of Oban and Mull and Scotland in general, which is a good thing since some of my ancestors came from Scotland.

Watched a few of your vids. They are an acquired taste but I love them. This one is bril. Yes, it looks like it was made in the ‘50’s but that’s how it’s meant to be. Each one is like a Pathe News special. Are you still motorhoming?? I hope so. All the best to you both.

I am fortunate enough to live only a short drive from Whitby. Its such a lovely place to visit but it does get extremely crowded in the Summer. Visiting on a sunny day in Winter on the other hand is very hard to beat!!

love your history --so many memories and much bitterness of places cold and indifferent to staying together and communalism was created. Its so much history in your voice-in your country I find myself just knowing the truth of what really exists....NO DISNEYLAND HERE...cinderella and grand ball

Vennlig hilsen Gunnar W. Gundersen.

Forces enactors are usually far too old for the 40’s Services. I hate seeing these enactors with their hands in their pockets and slouchers . The number that can’t march properly really annoys me.Don’t even know how to change step. Being an Armed Forces Veteran you have a lot of respect for the uniform you were wearing. In the service of your King and Country. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Not the bloody Magpie rip off fish and chip cafe, sorry, restaurant! It is tradition to buy your fish and chips at a take away near the pier, and eat them out of the paper, the real Yorkshire-way. The rest of the film with the weird Yorkshire accent is quite entertaining.
