Hi Ed, how your rear shock is set up?That is to say how many spacers and what sag. I did see how you set the dial.
@MTBreitti2 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Actually, as this is a demo bike, I did not open the shock. So I do not know how many spacers are inside at the moment - it is stock setup. I usually run around 30% sag and the rebound is set based on the conditions. In slippery conditions I put it a bit slower, and in fast and dry - faster (as the speed is faster as well). I can’t say how many clicks exactly, as I go with the feel of it, not with clicks. Hopefully this helps )

I enjoyed watching this video, very cool! What tire pressure do you keep for winter riding?
@MTBreitti2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I usually run the same pressure in winter as in summer (1.9 front, 2.2 back). It is important to choose the right conditions for winter riding though. On that day the snow was pretty dry and the traction good even for normal tyres. I do not usually ride on icy conditions (melted snow).

awesome review. Another good thing about trek bikes is they look really cool. The color schemes are very cool. I am also looking at specialized stump jumpers, but Specialized feels the need to use goofy graphics and ugly colors. Trek offers this bike in the red and gray you have, which looks amazing. They have an orange/yellow and gray, which also looks amazing. And they have a black, and unlike many other bike manufacturers, they don't put black logos on a black bike, Trek uses a nice chrome looking logo. The murdered out look it old. I think if I get a bike, this bike would fit the bill very well. Too bad they are not still made in Waterloo WI which is only an hour drive from where I live.
@MTBreitti3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I also really like how Treks look nowadays. Even today (a year after the bike was shipped) Fuel Ex still turns heads on the trails and most of my friends wanted to test it out. Perfect bike for everything I ride and can warmly recommend it to others as well.

I think most of the future development of mountain bikes will focus on 29ers, so it probably makes sense to move that way on your bike.

@MTBreitti3 жыл бұрын
Kiitos hyvästä palautteesta! Palvelussa oleva reitti on kyllä aika tekninen paikoitelleen.
@Stefan-Foil3 жыл бұрын
Good review! and good point to be honest to yourself when you chose the bike. I also looked at the remedy with 27,5 wheels, but everyone told me to buy a Fuel EX. My old bike is a 26 inch fuel EX 7, 2008 that I love but a bit short travel and wheelbase for the really rough stuff if you go faster, but its a compromise and I think it was just right for trail riding in Sweden, Hellas (Your homespot looks identical to Hellas!!!, yes a bit technical sometimes, kzbin.info/www/bejne/imiWf3hql9WoeLM). So now I will get a new Fuel EX with 29er. Will it be a totally different bike compared to my 2008 version you think?
@MTBreitti3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For sure you will notice the difference. You will be faster on it and everything will seem smoother. More technical parts of the trails will feel smoother. It will not be as playful as 26 though, you will get some stability instead. Make sure that you will ride it at least few hundred km before making a final opinion. The transition from 26 to 29 will take some time to be comfortable for sure.
@Stefan-Foil3 жыл бұрын
@@MTBreitti Thanks for your reply, yes that is what I hoped for. Maybe for the really technical stuff the old 26er would be better but as you said lets be honest, 90% of the rides are not so technical but just plowing over roots and stones and going fast. Also a really good tip to learn to ride it before judging it. Thanks again!!
@MTBreitti3 жыл бұрын
@@Stefan-Foil Sure! 29er is actually better for technical stuff as well, you will just not be able to play with the bike the same way you did with 26er (e.g. jumping of the routes and trowing bike around). It is of course possible, but harder. I don't think you will regret getting a Fuel Ex 29er )
