I know this video is mad old but it came in so clutch today almost 3 years on. This was the last video i watched before my practical today and when i was watching from 26:37 onwards, i couldn't figure out how when you turned left on the roundabout to Irvine it became 60, so i kept replaying it but i memorised this piece of road just incase and yeah i got taken this way on my test, recognised the roundabout sign and tbh i thought i'm either gonna fail for speeding or fail for going too slow. Treated it as a 60 when i exited the roundabout and well i passed. yer some guy for these videos 👌

At 26:20 you might just about see the National Speed Limit applies sign on the right side as you approach the lights. This is a common area where candidates are faulted for not making progress as the signage is poor and, in my lifetime, this is the only place I know that has traffic lights within a national speed limit area, i.e., going straight through from either side. Well done and if you get the chance, improve on your forward planning and awareness 😉

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. The point of these videos are mainly for commentary. I'm afraid if I responded to your request as asked, I wouldn't be preparing you properly for your test. However, practice reading road signs and markings while on the move and good luck.

Hi Adam. I mention at the beginning that I've combined two routes together. The roads shown are still used but not necessarily in that specific order or end to end route. As per the caveat in the description, please don't prepare for a test by learning routes. 👍

@@Hagar1302 cheers Billy. I’ve had practice on many roads over the past 4 months in both my instructors car and my girlfriends car so I am confident in my driving. I am just going through each test route before my test next week to familiarise myself with the roads and to not get caught out on anything. As I learned that on the dundonald route there’s a bit of paint on the road that they potentially fail you for etc. Your videos are useful cheers.

Author note: At 18m30s, it's very possible that the examiner will ask you to take the 4th exit and not the 3rd. You would then turn left at the end of the 4th exit road to Drybridge, then turn right at Drybridge back toward the Test Centre

Quick question if you don’t mind. Its not trying to catch you out - just advice! At 26.25 on this video, you purposefully filter across to the left lane whilst still on the crematorium roundabout and exit towards Irvine - now in the left lane. Perfectly acceptable but as would be staying in the right line, leaving same exit in outer lane & filtering across to the left. I presume both scenarios, as per Highway Code reg 185 would be fine?

Great question. The alternative scenario is acceptable practice, for example, you see someone overtake me on the roundabout doing what you suggest and therein lies the difference. I wasn't overtaking, or planning to overtake, during or immediately after exit therefore always exit in lane 1, for normal driving, where possible. Some markings, may prevent this, for example on a spiral roundabout, where you would return to lane 1 after exiting. Hope that helps.
