Honestly when I was an employee, I kept these interactions as short as possible. If they’re arguing, it’s unlikely you’ll get them to admit anything no matter what you say. I would tell people that the claim would be generated and they can debate with the damage recovery unit, I have other things to take care of 😂

Enterprise employee here. I'm not gonna lie and say "oh, they wouldn't do that" because yes, there's some pieces of shit in the company, but I don't believe at all that they forced you to take it. We get customers all the time that decline cars if the inventory isn't what they want. You have every right as a customer to decline the vehicle. It also helps to take pictures of damage or anything you see, the managers shouldn't stop you (now if this branch did, that's messed up and wrong). I don't think the guys being racist, tho, because people of all different colors would react the way you would, if you were wronged. I'm not trying to change your mind, if you feel that way, that's okay and it's great that you let it be known how you feel, but the evidence in this video just makes you seem like you're complaining and making a big deal out of nothing. If they did end up charging you for damages, then that's totally messed up but if they didn't charge you, take it as a sign that they're crappy people and don't rent from them again. I do apologize if you feel that way, tho and if more ended up happening. A rental car service should make you feel at ease, not make you paranoid.

I rented a van from one location, the manager didnt check anything at all just looked at broken gas cap he noted then sent me on my way, i return van a week later new location and the guy does a 3 min detective search even climbing almost on top of high roof and found all kinds of damage, both headlights crack with water inside, broken side mirrow, so called roof damage, i didnt do ANYTHING to van ! They already stole my 200$ deposit and said they going to file a claim. Enterprise are a scam and needs shut down asap !

A lot of people can’t follow the logic. No document shows any damages for the truck, but they are aware of preexisting scratches (which should still have been documented even if they aren’t worried…at least for the size in this scenario…yes even the door handle). If those aren’t documented then you cannot unequivocally say the rear puncture did not exist…especially if you didn’t rent it out. We used to follow rules so this never happened to us. Document, document, document and you don’t have to argue, but they admitted to their own flaw and encouraged this encounter.

Should've used that phone camera to document those damages and brought it up with them before signing off on that vehicle...recording it later won't do you justice.

My aunt asked for a big SUV but gave us a small one and ended up with a flat so we had to turn all the way around back to rental place to get a different car. We was headed for Kansas too. If they gave her what she asked for, we would have been in Kansas at 11pm but ended up getting to Kansas at 5am.

Always do a walk around and document damage with the agent before taking possession of the vehicle. Even if the scratches are superficial, still have the agent annotate it on the rental agreement. Also, consider taking out the CDW ($20/day) or use a credit card with primary rental insurance to completely avoid being held personally liable for damage.
