Thanks Obi. Good to know that Li Auto all in on AI. And i also heard about Chinese DeepSeek AI company. Deepseek developing equivalent of ChatGPT with much fewer money compare to americans company. Wow that just show how chinese company can catch up or in some cases exceeding american companies with less money and shorter time. I hope Trump can make a good deal with china so that we will have a win win situation. Instead of us consumer suffering to see our Nio car in america. Thanks

With the high cost and regulation demands in the US autonomous driving is not going to happen any time soon. US is already way behind since Baidu has thousands of autonomous taxis providing over 8 million rides since their pilot in 2021 and Huawei ADAS 3.2 is currently the gold standard. If push comes to shove NIO could ditch NAD and buy the solution from Huawei without too much hassle.

I think LiDAR will be a mandatory hardware component for all level 3+ autonomous driving solutions in China. Tesla will be forced to integrate one.

You bring up a great point. I do think that if regulations in China make lidar mandatory for Level 3+ autonomous driving, Tesla will have to adapt to comply with those requirements. Elon Musk has historically been critical of lidar due to its cost and bulkiness, but as the technology has become smaller and more affordable, it’s becoming a more viable option. That said, Tesla seems focused on proving that cameras, radar, and AI are sufficient to achieve full autonomy, which aligns with their vision of mimicking human perception. If Tesla can demonstrate a reliable and cost-effective solution without lidar, they might push back against the need to integrate it. However, as always, regulatory requirements will likely play a significant role. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds in China!

When talking about most functional eyes, I do not think that the human eyes is the best of all creatures on this planet. We cannot see at night and we get blind with bright lights. How can that be the best option for autonomous driving, especially at night and bad weather conditions. A terminator can see in both day and night. Remember that Elon Musk never said use of lidar is a bad idea. Back then he only said that lidar is too bulky and too expensive to make EVs affordable. That is no longer the case because lidar are so much smaller and only cost maybe $2k-3k to be added to a vehicle so the argument against lidar is no longer valid.

I see your point, and it’s true that the human eye isn’t the most functional compared to some creatures with specialized vision, especially in low light or extreme conditions. However, I believe Elon Musk’s reference to the human eye was more about its humanistic perception and adaptability in the context of driving..how we naturally process visual information like depth, speed, and obstacles on the road. That said, I do agree that night vision is a critical area for improvement, and Tesla likely recognizes this. Whether through advanced cameras, software enhancements, or even integrating something like lidar in the future, I think Tesla’s goal is to ensure vehicles can ‘see’ better than humans in all conditions. I’m actually a fan of lidar myself and think it’s a viable technology, so I agree with you there. It’s exciting to see how lidar has become smaller and more affordable, which makes it an increasingly realistic option. Thanks for sharing your insights!

Starting at 20, 389. Starting at. So with any features, more. Then adding Trump's Chinese tariff and the car becomes more expensive than Tesla's model 3 at 38,990. The main problem here aside from the cost is the CCP. This car is not making progress by itself the Chinese government stepped in and subsidized everything this is why they have so many swap stations and why the whole government Fleet of vehicles will be NIO. Government offering rebates for private citizens who swap their internal combustion cars for an ONVO. The car on its own has not been proven to be a quality product yet. It is simply been adopted by the CCP in their frantic need to prove they have a slice of the Eevee Market. I anticipate there will be unprecedented problems with these cars
