Jets' only win vs. Montana ever. Shining moment in an inconsistent season, especially after blowing a 21-0 lead the previous week.

It is so refreshing to watch RBs fighting for every yard instead of running out of bounds and defensive players going back to the huddle after making a tackle. I hate how the cameramen always zoom in on guys screaming because they tackled a guy for a 4 yard gain.

Not hardly a Super Bowl preview (of 1996).... Not many players from either team made it that far... Rod Wooden and Michael Irvin were on the teams.... Was there anyone else who lasted 8 more seasons?

I give the Falcons all the credit in the world for pulling off this upset. Meanwhile, I have no sympathy, when the more talented team chokes. The missed fg by Gary Anderson is a non-storyline for me. Because, the fg would've put the game out of reach, but the missed fg didn't lose them the game either. On top of that, the game should've never been that close. When you're a heavy favorite like the Vikings at home, you cone out and put your foot on the neck of the Falcons and keep it there until the game is over. The Vikings kept leaving the door open by settling for fgs, instead of drives ending in tds.

Not knocking Sam Nover and Bob Trumpy but surprised NBC didn't put a higher profile on air crew on the game broadcast - especially considering the game was carried in the New York City TV market... In one way, it made sense Sam Nover was on the game since he was a long time Pittsburgh local sportscaster...

As a Bills fan, it’s 44 years later and seeing this game on KZbin still gets me mad at the tie breaker rules back then, especially if they are still the same now. On the road Buffalo won this game. Then the Chargers and Bills both won their divisions at 11-5-0, along with the Browns, also finishing 11-5-0. Somehow, the only one of the 3 division winners who had to play on the road of the three was Buffalo….at San Diego. So much for the value of winning head to head during the regular season. I always wondered how different that close playoff loss to San Diego might have been if it was played in Orchard Park. As a side note from that otherwise excellent 1980 Bills season, they also crushed the eventual SB winning Raiders as well. Chuck Knox coached the Bills then and they were a very good team with a great defense.

I was 11 years old we visited Lions training camp at Oakland University a few weeks earlier before the 1980 pre-season started. Parking was free, we would wait down in the valley along the fence line at the dual fields for the Lions Silver film truck all decorated in Lions logos was getting set up. There were wooden bleachers to sit in if you chose. Eventually the Lions players to come out the back of the Oakland gym from that lower locker-room doorway. First guy out to the field before we arrived was Eddie Murray kicking field goals with a Lions assistant before the official start. I thought he was interesting kicker to watch his routines and later became an NFL'er for a long time Then the rest of the Lions players came down the hill from the gym. Sims came out surrounded by teammates so autograph seekers would not get in the way. Sims ran several plays during the practice session and no one could touch him. I got Sims autograph as well as others after the first practice, it was just walk up and ask while walking with the players. The NFL was way different then and granted more fan access to interact with the team. It was a special time in suburban Detroit for this era. It was exciting to anticipate this 1980 season.
