His friends called him "Jape" which I didn't know until recently. He had a terrible case of the flu which got him a seat on the Beech Bonanza aircraft that night with Buddy & Richie. A terrible event that took music of the three far too soon from future hits and personal goals. 😞

If anyone goes back and looks at the old performances, you'll realize that there's no way that Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly or the Big Bopper were the ages the media claimed that they were. All three looked like they were at least 10 to 15 years older than their reported age! Another person brought this to my attention. I didn't believe it at first, and then I thought, 'do I really care? But I was like, what the hell, l like mysteries I'll take a look for myself. And after watching some of they're performances, I came to the conclusion that, there is no way that Ritchie Valens was 17 when he died, or Buddy Holly was 22 and the Big Bopper was 28. I know it sounds crazy but, it's not unheard-of for record companies to tell their artists to lie about their ages to appeal to a younger audience. After all, teenagers are the main consumers in music sales. But you don't have to take my word for it. This is just my opinion, so don't get all butt-hurt if you don't agree!

The cars in front of Newberry’s reminds me of the cars going back and forth on the highway 500’ from our house in ‘50-‘51. Some cars were tall (30’s-40’s cars) and some were short (50’s cars, esp Chevrolet and Studebaker).😅😊🤗
