Doing most rides on a Surly Steamroller with 35-622 gravel tires. On gravel. Or on road. Or on a road that is so shitty that it qualifies as gravel. Don't do much city riding due to lack of a city.

I came to your channel for the gravel content, I came in from mountain biking but ended up falling in love with Gravel/Road, and I dug all the retrobike restorations and drop bar conversions - plus you inspired me to get my own Specialized Allez and even build a retrogrouch of my own. I haven't watched much lately because I'm not as into MTB anymore, but I'm still around. Had to give a click to the Rawnstercross for all times sake, it's like family.

If you change the bar to something more swept back and put a ringlock on it you would have a typical dutch bike 😄 Put a bigger gear and short aerobars on it for more fun.

great video, I'm in the process of building a bike from scratch (Commencal SX frame) not all components I'm buying are top notch, but they are pretty good for me. I'm curious what size of handerbars are you running?, I got one with 31.8mm of clamp diameter; but not sure if I should've got the 35mm. I like jumps and technical riding.

These videos are fine. If they think you talk to much they need to learn to listen for longer instead of wanting everyone to cut the conversation short just for them.

I thought the old build was a bit more appealing aesthetically, but I appreciate the change in your desires being reflected in your bike! I think some alt bars like koga denham or surly maloko would be perfect for this bike so you still have flat bars but also the hand positions of drops

I've spray painted cars bikes airplanes bridges trains.... I love spray paint. That said don't over think anything. Do over tape and bag the over spray. Best part about painting your bike is usually you will re paint the bike to tweak it to perfection. Also have fun.

Half link in the chain and a narrow-wide chainring? I was led to believe that won't work. Does it? Is it because it's a 1/8" BMX chain? In any case, glad to have you back posting regularly!

I get the build, but not sure why the fork swap was done. I remember the video where you swapped the fork on this bike to lessen toe overlap; so, what's the deal here?
@mikedevereaux58695 күн бұрын
Quick release wheel is my guess! Edit: the orginal fork is quick release also. 🤦♂ Second guess is brake posts for v brakes instead of the canti brakes (would require mini v's i believe).

I have a Swobo Sanchez fixed gear from 2009-ish that's been neglected. I'm somewhere between "I don't want to change it" and "there's no way in hell I'd change it" and "I don't ride it much the way it is right now so I should change it and see if that motivates me to ride it more." You might have inspired me, my man! Currently it's got some (nearly) flat bars. Maybe I'll hunt down some drops. I think it's probably a good idea to just refresh all the bearings on it...but that sounds like a pain in the ass! New, shorter cranks would be sick. New saddle would be sick. New stem would be sick. It's practically a new bike at that point! We'll see what happens. I don't get enough bike time the way it is so I'm going to be hard pressed to dig through pages of google to find a bottom bracket for it when I could instead be ripping' some twisty singletrack on the mtb. Winter approaches. Maybe that'll be the bike thing to get me through the cold. I appreciate your uploads and your outlook on bike/life. Thanks for all that!
