Great video, thank you!!! I am new to jet skis and bought a pair of 2001 yamaha xl800 this summer. Also I've seen a boring table called the cycle pro boremaster that is built for small engines, would one of these be a better choice for quick bore jobs ? Most of the Kwik ways I've seen don't have stands and they appear to be another couple grand to buy.

@Timbzz-dq8vn you get what you pay for. The bore master machines aren't the best And don't do the best job. The Serv-equip or Winnona Van Norman 1201 or cb1401 are a better fit for that type of work. The cb1401 Range: 1.5” (38mm) - 4” (101mm)

@@EricksonMachinePerformancethanks for the reply ! I could do without the smallest option i think as I really don't work on many 50s and usually just swap cylinders. The 1.5-4" would be just about perfect for most of the jobs I would acquire in the 125-450 range. Do you sell machines? I am in the beginning stages of outfitting my new shop but have a pretty good idea of what I want to do. I have worked in machine shops, mostly on lathes and surfacing machines, but boring is new to me. I'm sure I'll need to start with a few junk cylinders to get the hang of it.

Hello sir, could you tell me something about fixed bearing position and free bearing positions? I work with big windturbines and in these gearboxes and generators, the bearings always have a free bearing position and a fixed bearing position to allow axial movement because of expansion due to heat. But on smaller engines like 50cc two strokes i can hardly find any information about this. Do you happen to know anything about this? Kind regards!

Unrelated but your the person to ask! 1996 seadoo 787 rebuilt engine has run great 2 seasons. Only issue is the starter often struggles to turn the motor over and the compression is high on this rebuild. Should be 155 but is actually 175. It always starts but it requires wiggling the the flywheel to get it to turn. Starter (OEM) and wiring/battery are all 100% could this be the compression being higher? Is it worth removing the jug in an attempt to hope I can find a THICKER gasket the raise the squish and lower compression? I carry a rope to wrap around the flywheel to help start it and its just plain annoying!

Made in america... and we can never get ahold of them. Wax may have them made in China but for one they're in Aus. Competing with China on your doorstep is gonna be next to impossible. @HolyGoatsOfSteel here is the honest truth. There are many ways to make the B pipe better. If he redesigned the pipe and improved it, I would have never made a comment. But that would take skill and effort. The changes he made were to make them LESS $ to manufacture. They cause overheating issues with engines that MAKE POWER. AND the cheap aluminum strips and comes apart. And when a customer complain, he blocks them. Thanks for commenting

@@EricksonMachinePerformance You can't go and buy a brand new FP today. But you can go and buy a Wax pipe, and people are doing it. The demand is there. Unfortunately that's the beloved free market at work. If the supply doesn't match the demand, somebody will make it work. Plus TNT had a hand in designing the head pipe and manifold so it's not exactly an uninformed design.

@Scottg1014 re ringing doesn't make a big difference on iron bores If you have a plated cylinder re ringing can help. On iron bore it's normally the bore that's the issue On iron bores, you lose compression from damage or wear of the bore. So putting new rings won't be a permanent fix. +50 years ago when they used cast rings they wore out quickly. Now with the alloy rings it's really not the same

That is a horrible demonstration. Why did you cut the harness so close to the box. If something goes wrong with that plug, you're SOL. Then why did you so much die Grease on one side of the pins. You smear a small amount on a clean surface Let's say a lid to something. Then you put the other rubber grummet over the connectors. And down a couple of inches nu dip the connectors Or one connector at a time on what you applied down on the clean surface. So just a tip of the metal Faster receives the die electric grease. And why did you smear Dialectric grease Over the entire rubber seal between where the 2 plugs connect. Why did you do this. You just created a short between all the of Metal male And female connectors. You can apply non contact dial. Ectric grease for waterproofing None dielectric grease. You also have to be careful on whatever grease or sealand It does not get hot and flow.

@halmcdonald1725 it depends on what you're looking to do. Both work great. We sleeve ALOT OF ENGINES. That van norman 777s4 can cut .120-.16" per cut if you want. When machining 2 stroke cylinders the Van Norman machines handle the interrupted cut better. The Kwikway cant make as large a pass and the abuse wears them out faster. The Fn does have alot of nice features and if you just want to bore .01-.05" it's a great bar. It really depends on the type of work you do. There is no such thing as the best bar. It's what fits your work best. I own both a Kwikway Fn. And a Van Norman 777s4. We use them both. Also, at this point, I have been boring cylinders for 25 years so I have 2.5 decades of experience.
