nice job you have all the tools, but if I were you I wouldn't waste time with a dock start board, make a wing board, make it as you want, it will be much lighter and much more resistant than any factory Chinese board; plus you make the shape you want and the satisfaction is so much; I did it
@matija379115 сағат бұрын
If you buld the board with nearly same width, wouldn't it be easier to just cut off 20cm from the front and 10cm from the back and cover up with epoxy and resin?

Outstanding documentation of the Learning Curve. Why did you choose to do your Dock Start with the Board out in front of you and jump on from a stand still start when it looked like you could have used the end of the canoe dock (background) and did a side run with board in the water, release board and jump on the board while it is moving? Have you tried the Run and Jump technique to compare to your Still Start? I look forward to your comments. Thanks for posting!
@yannickver21 сағат бұрын
@IRWE905 thx for the feedback. we tried all possible ways to jump on the board. (on the channel you will find the attempts from previous year). When you run sideways: impossible on our dock as there are metal poles in the water to support the dock and the foil would hit them. It's also very dangerous for the board and the rider with a bad start. the run and jump method is only possible on a dock that goes 'in' the water with no boats attached and nothing under the dock. If you dock allows it: run and jump is much easier.

Why is your kid riding with footstraps and you aren't? Is he/she free styling already:)?

It's not my kid, but the little one is already jumping better than the big one. As long as you don't jump there 's no need for straps. With straps everyting is much more risky. (the little one has a broken foot now due to straps while windsurfing (freestyle move.)

What a perseverance!!!!! And physical condition to make so many attempts every single day! You’re the role model man!! I’ll think about you at every attempt when I’ll start practicing and failing and learning and tuning ! Did you get hurt by the foil? I saw a couple of bad falls…. 😬 I guess the impact vest is more than welcome! From my side I have a 1900cm high aspect, 80cm alu mast (Decathlon Taaroa) but a too big wingboard 120L 195cm x 77 😅 is it impossible? Or does it worth some tries? Many thanks for this video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@yannickver8 күн бұрын
Until now I only fell 2 times on my wing, a small hole in the wetsuit and a minor cut. I always wear my impact vest and helmet for extra protection. I have also taken away the sharp tips of my foil and stab with some sandpaper. Your board will be too big for pumping. I think the maximum boardsize will be about 130-135cm, a longer board will be too hard to pump. Also be careful not to start with a too small board, the small boards like Kluber 80 from Gong will be very reactive and the learning curve will be very steep. Best way is to start with a mid size board. hope this helps...
@ShaharBenDavid10 күн бұрын
If the foil didn't hit you, all the rest is a bonus... As the slowest learner on earth, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it, but not sure with that front wing. Looks like a 633 that is one of the lowest aspect ratio wings on the market. A larger higher aspect wing will make the learning process much easier. Keep it up 🤙🔥🤙

The frontwing is a sabfoil W1100, not the best wing for pumping. Now we have the W1350 and it's much much better.

Dat zijn de Gavers in Harelbeke. Altijd spiegelglad water en heel weinig volk, wind is wel niet zo constant. In het begin van de zomer wordt het wier geoogst, zodat er relatief weinig last is van het wier.
@gengar67815 күн бұрын
Thx
@yannickver14 күн бұрын

Interesting! Personally I had an issue with the 2.5m (a firefly v2, but it's quite similar to flysurfer hybrid). Frontal crash, wave over it, full of water. I suppose it's more probable with small size because the inflated part will be smaller than wave (or even chop) size
@yannickver23 күн бұрын
When I crashed my hybrid in the waves it just floats over the waves and restarts (relatively small waves) . If you have a big breaking wave over it, this might give problems. (but with all types of kites this might give problems). I have read on fora from users getting water in the inlet valve and having problems to restart. There are small holes on the sides of the kite to let the water/sand out. On flat water, if you wait water will get out and it will restart. in breaking waves I think it will not restart. But the restart is so fast, If you are lucky you can restart before the next wave hits the kite...
@leifquraeshi24 күн бұрын
Very nice. I would love to see a video on how to best drift launch the hybrid
@yannickver23 күн бұрын
I don't have a boat, so hard to try it. I think the only problem you might get (apart from twisting the lines or bridles) is to inflate the kite enough on the boat or in the water. Even with a normal launch on the beach it takes some time to inflate the kite properly. The restart on itself will not be a problem.

@yannickverАй бұрын
@user-lc1tq1bm5i Have a look at my page, all last videos are made with OA4. It's much much better than the OA1 that I had before. It ticks all the boxes for me. I held it vertically for short test, but don't use it as such. You can attach it sideways if you wish... it's possible. It's a very good cam, so far no bad points. (overheating because of EU regulation, but this can be switched of with a crack. and only overheating when there is no cooling) The only think I'm missing is the burst mode in photo mode. Very good cam, go for it ;-)

@@yannickver Thank you for the quick answer. The reason I asked about vertical position is because I want to use it to improve my riding. Ideally I would like to see my board, bar and kite. And 360 camera's do not seem to be robust enough nor have the right mounts for kitesurfing.
@yannickverАй бұрын
@@user-lc1tq1bm5i 360 cams are ideal for this but as you say their selfphone like appearance makes them very fragile. My brother has one and: fragiles lenses, and condensation on the protection from the lenses. Not ideal to mount on your helmet. The OA4 has the widest pov from all classic action cams. Don't forget that I still use stabilisation on the modes I tested here, If I switch the stabilisation of it's becoming even much wider. I tried now, if you put it more to the front of your helmet and slightly tilt the cam down you will see your feet and bar in vertical position. I think you will have what you search for.
