Ask your dad if they if they were still using Filmos when he was at NYU or if they move over to the Arri S cameras?

I don't know how this video made its way into my feed...but I love it. I didn't have a dad growing up but I would've loved to have had a cool film nerd dad who geeks out on cameras...this made my day!

Dude this was beautiful. Loved this. Thank you for putting this together! I’m actually shooting my first test this week so this got me really excited! Quick question: what mic are you using for your dad?? Sound was super crisp!

Man, such a great experience! I love how your dad makes his comments - feels like not only he's pointing you in the right direction but also teaches you to take criticism with a bit of humour so it doesn't get in the way of whatever you wanted to do :D

This is the best video on the entire internet about the Bolex. Period. Your dad is an immeasurable character explaining everything! The way he speeds through anecdotes and all the little tricks and knowledge he knows about the basics of shooting with one can only come from someone who became a well seasoned user of one Showing off the light meter, the viewfinder, relishing in how clean the insides were, smelling how clean they were ('SMELL THE GATE'), cautioning against dust and hair (NO BEARDS), the trick to find the emulsion side in the dark, BRILLIANT "So muddy, such a poor choice of exposure" Love your dad's honesty reviewing your footage lol, at least you got something! "In film you get 2 stops: 2 up, 2 down!" Imagine the difference checking out out a recent Vision3 negative film, compared to slide film, that's got over 16 stops of DR! Quotes like this, the way he teaches you everything, I could listen to him talk about this for hours!! Heck, he needs to start teaching this because he'd have a full class including me "You're not ready for this business" hope you survived Considering how great this video is, you did well! I really liked the editing!

Very cool. Love it.. “smell the past”, lol. I’ve had a couple of similar experiences with my kids when showing them movie cameras - 8mm ones & my Bolex H16s. They got the hang of it after a bit of trial and error. Of course they prefer the ease of cell phone and GoPro video.. There’s nothing like film to document our lives. Nice set of prime lenses on his H16. Thanks for this! I’d love to see more videos with your dad in them. He’s great!

Aside from the absolutely incredible tutorial on the use of the camera, the character of the father, the editing, and the narration in general, I'm amazed at the quality of the video. What camera was this shot on? Digital Bolex?

Hi man! Your father showed and told everything with such burning eyes, it was cool! I've never been interested in video shooting in my life, much less shooting with old cameras However, I liked the video, and how everything was explained. Of course, I couldn't understand all the subtleties, because I don't know English very well But when I watched your movie, despite its dampness and unsuccessful shots. It was very atmospheric Not everything comes out perfectly the first time, and efforts cannot surpass talent. However, if you try, you can do everything. The main thing is that your soul lies to this case But of course in this case it was just an interesting experience, so I hope you'll just do what you like😁😁 Although it was funny to hear at the end of the phrase that your grandfather said to your father: it's none of your business😂 I managed to get acquainted with a couple of your videos. You skate very cool, and you have very good family and friends😉👍 If you are going to release any more videos, I will definitely watch them! Happiness, luck and peace to you friend✌😊☀🍀🎥🛹
