I have seen the Willies numerous times at Salomon Alfred's on Beale Street. One time, some time in '88, Joe Walsh was at the bar with Jimmie Jameson and Joe Walsh got up and did a set with the band. I have been trying to find that video, but have failed
@JoeandAngie7 ай бұрын
I was there. Joe Strummer of the Clash was there, too. Got his autograph. I think it was after Jimmy Jamison's set and I was standing beside Joe Strumner, didn't know it, and someone introduced him but it sounded like "Joe's drummer"...so fn Joe's drummer gets on stage! Strummer was standing right beside me and goes, "Joe's drummah?! I'm fn Joe Strummah! Who the fk is Joe's drummah?!!". Pissed. I shot out my hand and said, "man, that's bullsht "or something and, "can I get your autograph?" He signed a napkin "Joe Strummer The Clash" and and drew a big star. Damn cool. I got joe walshe's at the same place a week before-ish and Shawn was at thst show, too. Joe was drunk/blistered and couldn't get the solo to Holtel California right, so Shawn kinda nudges him over and does the lead. The band went on break, Shawn sat with us and I asked why he didn't go with and he said," "I don't do that stuff". Joe Walsh came back and killed the guitar...must've snowed during the break lol We watched the Willys almost every time they played btwn 85-88. Shawn, my friend john and I were all.into aquariums and that's what we usually talked about ...and guitars Pretty sure we were at this show, too

6:47 is absolutely ferocious. No tapping. Just double jointed, insane flexibility, incredible dexterity on those diminished (or augmented?) runs. The GOAT.

Overuse of cortizone cream, because he had psoriasis.
@JoeandAngie7 ай бұрын
Not cream. I'd take shrloads of cream to affect in that way. Oral corticosteroids. Autoimmune disease. I was an RX and we'd talk about it. It's why he wore long sleeves. His elbows were just awful. He itched constantly. He was my friend.
