Hi Romek, this is a really good question and really interesting! One that is beyond my capability 😂 but luckily I know a man who can answer it👌 It monitors the oxygen in the exhaust gases coming out of the combustion chamber and adjusts the ratio of fuel to air so that it is operating at it's optimum. But more modern vehicles use a wideband oxygen sensor now which is far more accurate and works to a wider band. Apparently, it is more complex than this but who I asked didn't have faith in me that I would understand the complexities 🤣 he is probably right! Thank you so much for your question, I really appreciate it. Keep them coming 😊. It also educates me!
