How would you reimburse an employee? I know there is a section to put it the amount but what if you wanted to put it towards a certain account? For example safety shoes for $100.00. Would I set the employee up as a vendor then put the expense to safety? Then mark it as paid and put $100.00 in the reimbursement line?
@CertumSolutions18 күн бұрын
You can definitely do that. You can also put via a payroll item, but you have to remember to cancel it and it’s easy to forget, so I prefer to keep them separate as you described.

I think I have access to local talent for help. But I may need to reach out to you if they can’t help me. I’m just trying to acquaint myself at this point. Good morning, my question is concerning tips received from clients, tips are nontaxable. When I enter the sales receipt, there is a section at the bottom of the sales receipt for tips. This is where I enter them. When I look at the sales tax liability report it shows the dollar amount that is nontaxable. Is there a report that will show me a list of the clients that paid the tips?? Also - where would the tip information go on the chart of accounts? I appreciate your time and look forward to your answer.
@CertumSolutionsАй бұрын
Hello! Depending on the state if the tips are mandatory they can be taxable. If the client can choose the amount to tip and it is blank it typically isn’t, but it depends on the state. Some states see mandatory tip charges as service fees and consider them taxable. (Oi) That being said, tips go to the Undistributed tips account on the Balance Sheet, so I would run a transaction detail by account keying off that account to see which tips were received. Does this help?

Good afternoon, I had to go back to my clients sales and calculate sales tax that was not broken out, (a total fee was charged for the taxable service)and reduce the total sales and create the liability i have a sales tax payable but I dont have it listed to the NJ Div of taxation. Is this a journal entry fix to move it from one liability to the other or are there things in the system that need to be addressed?

You would need to fix it within the sales tax module so it will reflect correctly. Ledger entries usually won’t reflect in other modules.

Quick question: When you're entering the information in Recieve Payments, is that before or after you've entered the check(s) you received?
@CertumSolutionsАй бұрын
You will show the check there when doing receive payments and the reference number is the check number. The items in undeposited funds are the received payments you’ve booked to go to undeposited funds instead of straight to the bank account
@risingisaac1394Ай бұрын
@@CertumSolutions Okay. I noticed that when I entered an invoice, I was able to put it into undeposited funds. After that I make the batched bank deposit in QBO and send the checks to the bank?
@CertumSolutionsАй бұрын
an invoice should not post directly to undeposited funds. Undeposited funds is for the receipt of the money used to pay the invoice. An invoice should typically post to a revenue account.

I have few questions regarding sales tax on expenses, please guide on email. Regards
Really enjoyed this video Katie! Just found your channel this morning and I have subscribed. Completely understand what you're saying about having a traditional brick-and-mortar office location. I started my bookkeeping business in January working from home like so many others I've seen on KZbin. I truly understand how the aspect of WFH means less overhead with rental expense. Not doubting that one bit and for those that run their business from home, my hat's off to them!! I just signed my lease a week ago for my new office location downtown and I've had some ask me why would I take on the added expense? I view this choice as ROI vs an expense for two primary reasons. One is after months of research, I've found potential clients have more trust in a business brand that has a physical location. Granted, the majority of my work is online, same as when I was WFH, and the need for clients to visit the office is rare. But from a psychology aspect, business owners still feel more secure dealing with a service company with a physical office address. Case in point, when I first started marketing my business offering outsourced bookkeeping, payroll, and financial services virtually from my WFH location, all I heard was crickets. Now that I have announced my moving into my new downtown address office location, in the first week I've received half a dozen potential clients reach out looking for more information. Again, for me, the ROI is in brand trust. Second reason has a non-tangible value. I feel the need for proper Work/Life Balance is important. I noticed when I was WFH, I rarely took a break. Granted I'm still in start-up mode and putting a lot of hours, blood, sweat, and tears into the growth of my business, but I was feeling the burn out. By having my business in a different location instead of at my home, I can take breaks and detach myself on occasion as needed. I was worried I was going to run myself so ragged, that burning out would cause me to lose my passion of growing my business. A fire needs air to grow, but sometimes too much air can reduce the flame. Again, I enjoy your wonderful content and look forward to watching more of your videos!
@CertumSolutions2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and insightful comment! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the video and have subscribed to the channel. Your perspective on having a traditional brick-and-mortar office location is really valuable and mirrors the experiences of many business owners. The balance between reducing overhead costs and building brand trust with a physical location is a common consideration. It's fantastic to hear that your new downtown office is already paying off in terms of client inquiries and trust. The point you made about work/life balance is equally important. It's true that working from home can blur the lines between personal and professional life, leading to potential burnout. Having a separate office space can indeed provide that much-needed mental break and help maintain passion and productivity. Thank you again for sharing your experiences and insights. It's comments like yours that foster a great community here. I look forward to hearing more from you and wish you continued success with your bookkeeping business!

Thank you so much for the reply!! I wanted to also personally respond. I fully agree!! Funny enough, we ended up buying the building this video was about and are opening our second this month. I also feel the ROI is there and is both tangible and intangible. I leave my laptop at work now and don’t have a computer at home and it is very freeing!!! Very much appreciate the subscribe as well. -KB

Leah, I watched your video and believe you can help me out. I'm one of those users of Windows Pro POS 18 (Single User) . POS system is out front (in my store) and I send my financials to my back office. As you know both PC (out front) and POS Financials (on this same PC and and in my back office. I been a Quick Books POS since 2010. So I up dated to POS 18 in 2018 after finding out Quick Books POS 2010 does not support Windows 10. Enough said about this. My POS works great for my stand alone store. My sales, my input of inventory, and the financial exchange. I use my own stand alone Merchant Services. So Quick Books POS and Financial software works great for me. Here is my problem. Since State of Ohio extended there free tax to all for 10 days (back to school) I decided to set my POS Work Station preferences to be tax exempt for all sales. That caused a problem in the Exchange and Update Summary Shown of the POS: Sales Receipt Sent: Problem Found (in Red) However, everything is being sent to the financial. How do I correct this and make this go away? Where it use to close automatically, now I have to close this prompt to close it manual. My name is Dave and I'm the owner of Day Cin Vacuums. I would really appreciate talking and asking your help me solve this error. Other than that, everything seems to be working well. I just seem to get Financial Exchange message to go away.
