For not being an "authentic* mechanic I would say you explained things pretty well and where things are located. I have my 2013 Titanium in for repair and asked them to check the A/C . Got the sad report I need a new compressor and was told it'd be an additional $700 on top of current repair charge.....guess I'll just drive it as a "seasonal" car on cooler days and use my back up car.

Thanks for the video. Mine did the same thing. The clutch plate and bolt was missing. I ordered a clutch plate, bolt and spacers from Amazon with over night shipping $35 total. 5-10 minute install. Depends on how big your forearms are. lol. Thanks again.

i really need some advice. my 2018 ford fusion needed few minor repairs not related to the ac(spark plugs, purge valve) why would the compressor stop running right after making those repairs? it would start working again like 24 hours after the last repair. does the car somehow know that its being touched or something?? im comfused i almost went for a repair and now its just running flawless whats going on man???

Mine is 15 Fusion SE. Did you get the service kit and replace expansion valve, gaskets, o rings, drier and desiccant bag ? Kit also came with oil.
@frankmontez6853

Mine is 15 Fusion SE 2.5 L and the clutch material is coming off. I can see it. Professional mechanic friend says I can replace clutch only and that might do it. But I don’t know about doing it myself and I can’t find a shop that would do it. So replace the whole thing and hope the contamination didn’t get into condenser. Once you take off compressor then see if it’s full of black gunk. If it does then replace the condenser. Let’s see if it is. I ordered compressor and service kit from eBay and get everything in a few days

I have a question about exactly the same thing. I lost the cold air and I pulled into a gas station, as I parked all I saw was blue smoke and the smell of clutch or brake material. I assumed it was an AC compressor issue so I turned it off and made it home

Oil leak from where one of the long mounting bolts is actually missing.. it's also supposed to hold oil pan tiny leak there. I was hoping you'd show it being taken off. Try to find schematic of it. It's the one closest to firewall nearest the clutch. Front one. Is that a regular bolt or the one with a nut at the end? 2016 Focus SE 2.0L. Duratech engine. Try parts store next. And did you torque and what torque specs?

Do you use the same oil from the old compressor into the new one and did the new compressor come already pre charged with freon? One last question, where did you get the compressor?
@bradphilippi4390
@bradphilippi4390 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, i missed the questions. Common practice is to pour out the oil in the old compressor into a container and place that same amount of new oil in the new compressor. The new compressor will have some oil in it from the company so that needs to be considered. And no you have to charge your new system with freon which is a separate process that you will need to research.

Let me ask you- my AC compressor burned out and a simple clutch replacement would likely work right ? No recovery and refilling system of Freon and far less work and expense of replacing compressor? And there’s very likely no contamination of system and no other parts replacement and work needed ?

@brad Philippi, thanks for the video, some helpful info in there. Can you tell me what engine you have? My 2.0 titanium AC stopped working about a month ago. I checked the relays and fuse in the relay box in the engine. Both are in working order, but clutch won't engage. I just wanted to see if you are working with the same model, before I jump into the job. Thanks.

@bradphilippi4390

Open ended wrench 13mm I believe. Same for a socket for where it can reach. To discharge system you will need a set up you can buy for cheap or rent. You will need it to properly recharge after replace. Depending on skill level I would give it a day to complete.

Happened to me too, I put it back on as I was lucky to still have it on skid plate and the air works fine. Gotta have the right bolt and washers though. I didn’t have those but got mine at a pull and save. Problem I ran into is spacing. No room to impact it back on correctly so mine wiggled off after 2 weeks. Gonna try lock tight and a ratchet extension.
