That last hit... I remember him playing that drum at the end of the show in 1987 and the sonic wave kicked everyone back 3 metres. At that time nobody cared about the decibels delivered in a gig. Actually, the policy was the loudest the better... good ol'times!

Wow, all that gate on the kick. I think drum recording has come a very long way. At some point, AI will be able to take these old drum tracks and allow us to see how it would sound with the benefit of our latest tech.

5 years, over 900 views, and no comments. Well, i will break the streak. I have a Dynamic Listening Systems unit just like the one you have on the right. It was for our son many years ago. Now, we would like to sell it. Got any ideas? What did you do with yours?

OMG, I never thought I would see a 6622 running in this year. I was actually the engineer who worked on many of the aspects of 6620 (recovery, partitioning, hard drive image preparation) and even the 6622 (since there were still a few things we needed to do like battery remaining amount, etc). This all happened when I worked at Norand/Intermec in 1997-2005. It was a local company for me but I eventually left after moving out of state and working on many other computer systems. Your playing Quake made my day. Funny story, I had a PCMCIA precursor WiFi card in mine, and was able to surf the Internet (such as it was in those days) from my couch - and use the touch screen. Not the best iPad but it was many years ahead of the time. (I didn't have high speed Internet so used an access point we made with Ethernet over to a PC running software (Sygate) I think, that would cause dialup networking to fire up and bridge the NIC's. LOL Have a wonderful day!

All he needs is that 4 piece. He’s a savage. All that fluff other drums is just silly. But at that time it wasn’t. Doesn’t ever matter if he used any of them.

That sounds really nice. What modifications were done to the Platinum? I have an RPM 1.3 and want to try one of these carts. There are not many brands that do high compliance carts anymore. Ps, are rhe plans for those speakers available anywhere please ?

I saw Vinny in LA back in the mid 80's in a small venue. I don't even know the name of the band he was playing with (not Dio), but it was so small, I was about 15 feet from him. I stood at the stage and my eyes never left him. The bass player kept trying to stand in front of me to get me to look at him, and I would look around him at Vinny. He got pissed and moved to the other side of the stage lol. Vinny had to of known I was a fellow drummer. He kept pointing his stick at me once he realized I wasn't there for anyone but him. right in the middle of a song and he'd point to me... I never forgot that!

I used to think Vinny was the coolest drummer on the coolest kit!! I know he hurt his shoulder... but he could have done something to make it easier to play. Oh well... I've watched him today and I don't think he's much better and actually liked his playing better back then.

Never understood micing the concert toms from the tom. They sound thin because you are hearing the head. You get less than 15% of the actually drum sound. You then have to get it electronically from the board, EQs, and effects. But I will say that Vinny is a monster. I first heard and saw him with Rick Derringer in the early 1970's.
