I did think about that after, but for the right player or players anything is possible. Mets got starting pitching to deal.

The Dodgers scored the most runs in baseball last year with Miguel Rojas at SS, an injured David Peralta in LF and JD Martinez playing in only 113 games. They added Teo Hernandez who mashes left handed pitching, (he owns Eduardo Rodriguez hitting .381 with 3 HRs in 21 career at bats) Gavin Lux is a big offensive upgrade over Miguel Rojas and that guy Ohtani is ok too. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman both have MVP season last year and now they have Ohtani hitting behind them. They are going to see some pitches to hit, cause nobody wants to walk them. Ohtani was absolutely elite the last few years while being on a terrible team and having to exert energy pitching once a week. We can expect a MONSTER season from him this year. The Dodgers starting pitching fell apart last year with Clayton Kershaw going down at the All Star break, losing Urias to a DV arrest, Tony Gonsolin going down with an injury and Noah Syndergaard was DFA'd. This year they have a ridiculous rotation to go along with the insane run production they are going to get. Yamamoto is THE best pitcher to ever come out of Japan. Better than Darvish, better that Nomo, better than Matsusaka, better than Ohtani and better than Senga (who finished 2nd in the NL rookie of the year last year). Ever scout is in agreement, his stuff is elite and absolutely translates to the MLB. Glasnow has one of the highest K rates in all of baseball and he's finally healthy and fully rehabbed from TJ surgery. Bobby Miller had a great rookie campaign and there is no reason to think with his stuff that he won't be better. Walker Buehler will be back ad fully healthy as well. He likely wont start a game till late April as they want to limit his innings as much as they can, they keep him fresh down the stretch. They also have a ton of depth with the signing of James Paxton, Michael Grove, Emmett Sheehan, Gavin Stone and Clayon Kershaw (who won't pitch till August while he recovers from shoulder surgery). The Dodgers also had the best bullpen in baseball the second half of last season. They look to be even better with the return of Joe Kelly, Graterol, Evan Phillips, Blake Treinen, Daniel Hudson and JP Feyereisen. The Dodgers have the regular season figured out they cruise to a 110-52 season. The postseason? We'll see.........

Not sure I'd describe Jake Cronenworth as "amazing", dude hits below .250 and has one of worst slugging percentages for 1st basemen in baseball. He mentioned last year that he let the pressure of the contract extension get to him, well this year he's got MORE pressure to perform. Padres were BAD last year and they lost the best closer in the game (Hader), a perennial All-Star and MVP contender (Soto) and the reigning Cy Young award winner (Snell). Plus, Lugo and Wacha. They aren't going to be any better, and likely much worse. They simply don't have enough pitching. There is an enormous amount of pressure on Joe Musgrove (who is often injured) Yu Darvish (who turns 38 this summer and is well past his prime) and Michael King, who was mostly a reliever for the Yankees last year, to be AMAZING. They simply don't have a 26-man roster that can sustain winning for any length of time. Their bullpen is going to get worn out and they don't have the minor league pitching depth to pitch any number of meaningful innings. I don't think the Padres win 80 games, the division got better, and they got much worse. 75-87 and 4th place.

Its a fair assessment but if multiple of the guys in the top of the lineup have career years it could propel them even with weaker rotation and bullpen. I agree they will be 4th place tho.

Yes opt out clause as Senga only got 15M per and got screwed. ROY and CY performance last year. Totally rip off! ERA was Top 3!
