I connected the negative first and then the positive and my car went black, then I did it correctly and I got it running. I hope I didn’t cause any permanent damage, please let me know if I did

your probly ok, just try not to do that again. just remember you need 12.5 volts charged on your battery to start your car. so let it charge before you shut it off so you dont have to jump it again lol

There is a lot of missing information. First, connect the positive cable to the dead battery, then connect the other end of the positive cable to the positive terminal of the live battery (make sure the negative ends do not touch any metal or the positive terminals). Next, connect the negative cable to the negative terminal of the live battery and then connect the other end of the negative cable to a good ground (not the negative terminal of the dead battery). Find a metal surface without paint. When removing the cables, do the reverse steps.

Can you run the car only on Jump Starter? Can you drive a car on Jump starts without working alternator or working battery? Can you leave the jump starter connected to the battery after a successful start? Can you keep the Jump start connected to the battery for a long time? Does leaving a car connected to jumper Starter charge the battery? Does leaving a car connected to jumper Starter harm the battery?

a bad battery will tear up your alternator fast, and no it wont run without an alternator. if youve ever had your alternator go out you find that out fast. you best bet is to get a new battery, sometimes the junk yards sell used ones cheap that have been tested. turn off all electronics if you have to drive with a bad battery, it will go farther before stalling out your engine, hope this helps
