I was lucky enough to study with Jerry Bilik in Ann Arbor, back in the 60's. He's a real talent, and a very funny sense of humor. I was very lucky to have known him. In those days he was the chief composer for University of Michigan Bands. THAT was a match made in heaven. BIlik and Revelli.

Hello! I am trying to track down the music for this song. Can you help me? I'd love to be able to sing this for children in libraries and classrooms with the picture book. I need to have a backing track made. And in order to do that, I need the music. I will happily purchase it. But it does not seem to be published, at least not on any of the places I usually buy music. I can have it transcribed, which I will do as last resort, but wow, it would be great if I could have the original thing. Can you help me? My job is I sing Illustrated Songs to kids in libraries and classroom and public events. This shares all the benefits of reading, books, music, songs, group singing, live performances (etc) with children who would not normally have access to these things. If you could help me with music or information, I'd be tremendously appreciative. PS: I greatly appreciate the military bands. We live in Arlington, VA and my husband is West Point class of 1974. He retired after a full career in the Army. I was born in an Army hospital in Germany before my father was sent to Vietnam. We frequently attend military musical performances, and as a singer myself, I greatly appreciate the quality and dedication to the craft and as service to our country. Thanks and best wishes.

Why is that first lieutenant playing in the band? He must be the assistant band officer.
@CaptMench6 жыл бұрын
Yes - he was the associate conductor. But we needed another percussionist back there for a few pieces and his main instrument was percussion - he was happy to help out!! I'm sure.

Yes, you have to "listen closely" to hear the amazing woodwinds at all. I'm glad to have this video, but as a clarinetist, I wish it had been shot from the front. Our group is playing this transcription (by Doug McLain--Baton Music) this fall, and I'd like to hear the clarinet section!
