I’ve been on 6 cruises. Most were fine. I will avoid cruising in the future.

I’m seeing a lot of comments about why things weren’t bolted down. I was on 4 of the Disney ship builds and can tell you that when that is practical, it is done. If everything was immovable it would be impossible to keep the ship clean the passengers comfortable and the spaces usable and aesthetically pleasing. Imagine having to disassemble every piece of furniture in your home just to run the vacuum or even use a wheelchair or pull up a chair to the table.

Here’s what you should do, dummies: go to your cabins, put on your vests and wait there until called to your life raft station. Don’t Put yourself in the line of flying furniture by sitting in the lounges!

Wearing a life vest inside when the ship could potentially go down is remarkably poor advice. If the cabin filled with water above the doorway, you’d be unable to swim out and drown.

Viking caters to a much older crowd. Could you imagine the screams and drama if a Carnival cruise had taken on water......

Flat bottom ships don't do well in rough seas. This ship has a 15 foot draft. Not designed for this type of storms and swells. Queen Mary wouldn't go like this or the Canberra or Arcadia . These new ships are just huge accidents waiting to happen. I don't care if a ship has a balcony ide rather have a window and the ship wrapped with more iron and steel. Balconies are nice but not for ships

And they keep making bigger and bigger ships for your enjoyment. Giant Titanic ships will sink in the future. It's only a matter of time..and takes days to evacuate everyone if ship lists and lifeboats cannot be deployed. Happy sailing !

I admit, I am fully ignorant when it comes to standard protocol of evacuation procedures. That being said, why would it be wise to have people gather inside an indoor auditorium when a ship is at risk of capsizing? Wouldn't you want to be outside and at least have a chance?

Why don't cruise ships bolt down tables, chairs, decorative plants, etc...? Such a hazard. Seems weird that they don't.
