I still wonder: 1. If it goes under the horizon, it should be safe... unless it's very close to Polaris, which would leave most of northern hemisphere exposed 24/7 but leave the southern unaffected. 2. I feel like a really big twist you could have added at the end would be that those who looked up survived and went back to normal after the supernova and those who didn’t suddenly dįed when the supernova ended, as though this was some sort of test from the supernova god.

Meh. In real life it would not be THAT bad. We live in an information age. and you know, supernova is not visible at the same time on the WHOLE planet, so other areas would be warned before earth rotates.
