Hi Yulia, great info here! Can I ask you if you have a local accent in Ukrainian and where is it from? I'm learning from several resources and definitely hear the letters pronounced differently (and too beginner to know which one is more correct) e.g. и at the end of the word sometimes sounds like "e", sometimes like an english "i" as in "hit", or even a bit like a russian ы - which one is best? For me it is easies to say somethink like "e", like you pronounce "yak sprave", but let me know! Дякую

Well my ship just got sunk. Thought i was making progress until hearing you speak and realizing Ukrainian makes no sense at all and my southern American tongue cant make those sounds. 😂 But, I wont give up. Even if I can’t pronounce it at least I might learn to read it.😊

Thanks for using IPA symbols. It seems, though, that I haven't seen a good unique IPA spelling for Ukrainian и. I can say the Russian ы. but it isn't the same as the Ukrainian и. Some Ukrainian friends pointed it out, trying to teach me to pronounce писанки.

In Old Slavic there were many I..ы, ь, и, and ї..Polish retains ь and и..Ukrainians retain ї ы и and Russians retain и ы..now, since the Slavic languages haven’t changed much and since they share boarders and a lot of Slavs marry other Slavic people etc..there’s really no right or wrong way to speak the Slavic languages..it all comes down to vowels that have slightly differences..и ь ы ї е/є/ѣ etc. a lot of us that have huge families mix..like my Grandpa is Serbian, my father is Ukrainian/Polish..my mother is Serbian/Russian. Do your best to really learn..but people will understand you..just practice, practice, practice..learn how to pronounce the vowels etc also, English has most of the sounds except ы..

But the English h in house is NOT the sound [x], but the sound [h]! The English language does not have a [x] sound. Hence the English pronounciation of "house" is not [xaus], but [haus].
