The part needs an 'o' ring installed inside the switch so it won't leak freon. Don't forget .

Can you tell some more details about please? I have a 1988 gmc sierra 1500 and I replaced the lower switch too but still not working I did the by pass like you did and my compressor start working but like I said when still not working with the new switch I have to replaced also the high pressure switch (purple one) because was damaged but the new one came with 2 wires, the extra one was for ground. I know my Ac compressor it’s working but I can’t find the problem

slight issue: when I tried to remove the latch, it fell down to the bottom. I unscrewed the sliders in a panic and have no idea what to do. I tried to use a magnet to then find out that the whole frame is magnetic. The door is very difficult to move, the sliders are detached, and the to top it off, the latch is now at the bottom. I really need some assistance on this, could someone help?

Thank you for the video. I hired a locksmith to replace my sliding glass door lock....had to wait a week for the part "to come in." When it finally did and they did the job, they put it in so the latch was upside down. Needless to say, the lock didn't work. Paid $122 for 5 minutes of work and $35 for the part. When I called the next day to tell them, "Something is wrong with this lock, it's not latching." I got a recording. No one ever called me back. 3 days later, (which is today) I searched online on how to do the job myself and found your video....5 minutes later....presto, job done. Your demonstration made it so easy to follow. I wish I had thought of looking online before i hired the incompetent, unprofessional "locksmith." Thanks again. You saved me from another day of stressing about no lock on my door. ❤ You're great! Have a wonderful day.😊

For me it’s easier to put the screws in first, then the back screws. Then partially torque the first screw into the back screw, then fit the next set, then tighten up the first,

The manufacturers site sells this replacement mortise lock, but I would have had to use the wooden dowel on the floor to lock it while I waited for the part to be shipped. I never would have guessed I could get the part at ACE. Thanks.

The website has a PDF that shows how to replace this mortise lock. They pushed an extra screwdriver through one the holes to hold the lock in place so it wouldn't drop into the door. I like your idea with the vice grips better!

Hi Dale: Thanks for your video. I followed your video to take out the old lock body from Pella Storm Door, but unable to remove the lock body/cylinder from the door. Removed the screw from the lock but unable to slide the lock out. Please help.

Thanks for this vid. Though, I can't seem to find the exact Pella latch/lock replacement. It would make my replacement project much easier. and I did look on the site you listed. It only lists the 2-point type cylinder deadlock vs a single rectangular.
