Thanks for all the intriguing info. When I was a kid I wanted to be a tree surgeon but gave up the idea when I found out I faint at the sight of sap. I was hoping to be successful enough to open a branch office. I think I'd be the type of guy who'd go out on a limb for my customers.

I prefer tree service, which I only recently discovered, by upselling lawn clients on small tree removals and large tree-limb removals (that had fallen), I realized it was WAAAYY better money than lawns, at least for me. 20 minutes to take down a decent medium sized set of trees, load into my truck bed and take to the dump $300 (probably underpriced myself but have no experience) vs 40-45 dollar 40 minute lawns. Amazing!

How much would you say a website would cost that’s packed with content and optimized for organic leads? And would you advice going into debt for it?
@chaddiller-landscapeleadership Жыл бұрын
A website like that could run anywhere from $15-$25k depending on a number of factors. A website often can last 4-7 years depending upon a number of factors as well, so you would need to decide if that is an expense you should finance. I am not a financial consultant so I can’t speak to whether you should or not. In my experience, it’s not something I’ve seen anyone do. They typically save up the capital or have the cash flow to support paying for it over the 3-5 months it’s built.

@Anna-hk1xw2 жыл бұрын
@@chaddiller-landscapeleadership I enjoyed the discussion about interviewing different members in the company but also not involving everyone in the review process and rather choosing a “champion”. I work in marketing for a tech company during my “day job” so it’s a nice tip to apply in that industry as well! Having a multi level review process always takes up so much unneeded time and I find those in higher positions or more technical positions give revisions that the audience were trying to target doesn’t always necessarily care about or understand and all those little details can do more harm than good!
@chaddiller40342 жыл бұрын
@@Anna-hk1xw Yup, it simplifies things for everyone. The article source often doesn't even care about reviewing it. If they do, your put that responsibility on the "point person" to gather and consolidate all feedback. This really eliminates rounds of revisions.

Mike creates a lot of good content and I have respect for what he's trying to accomplish with franchising his business and selling online courses. It's just not what Landscape Leadership does. Not good or bad, just different. Just because I have a yellow t-shirt on isn't really a nod to Mike or Augusta ;) It's just what I grabbed out of the drawer that day we filmed.

Horrible advice!! I guarantee the average lawn care/ landscaping website cost under $10k to build.
@chaddiller-landscapeleadership3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, Halo Guru. This video isn’t about what the “average” cost that most companies spend. $10k is actually the threshold of where I would suspect many shortcuts are being taken. Think of this as you would paying a technical professional for any other service. What is their hourly rate? What experience, expertise/demand drives that rate? How many hours are they spending on the project? Are they doing it all or do they have specialized teammates also working on the project? You may pay a great law firm $300/hour…let’s say you hire a marketing agency that has a lot of experience working with clients in your industry, an above average web developer, SEO experts, and copywriters that know your industry and that hourly cost is $150 (actually low side of average). That leaves about 60 hours to go thru an extensive process of discovery, copywriting, coding, testing, SEO analysis, and more. They aren’t using a template site for this cost. They aren’t asking clients to write their own website content (or using typical text). They aren’t just replicating what they see on thousands of other websites. You can always choose to pay “average” or less. In my past 20+ years in this industry, I’ve found that most business owners of $2-$20M/year companies do not have the “average cost” mindset. They frequently tell me “I’m willing to pay more to achieve more.”
@HaloGuru7773 жыл бұрын
@@chaddiller-landscapeleadership I understand where you’re coming from but being that your audience most likely are mostly beginners in this industry, $10k websites just aren’t practical for beginners.
@chaddiller-landscapeleadership3 жыл бұрын
@@HaloGuru777 I understand your perspective here. The majority of YT videos about lawn care websites are for this smaller or startup business which aren't really a good match for our services. My intention is to create a channel with resources for organizations who are farther along in their company's growth and marketing strategy or are ready to be more aggressive in their approach. Best of luck to you and your small business!
