I surfed my first 8 foot wave at Piha, Easter 1974. Great memories!

Hello, I am looking for photos or vidéos taken on PIHA BEACH on March 7, 2020 and 8th. I am looking for a young person who went missing on that date. Spotting him on this beach could help advance our investigation. Thank you. Have a great day. Thomas

Good old keyhole. Paddled out from there many times in 6 to 8ft surf. Water seemed close to the cieling!

Wow I surfed it a few times in 89/90 got it one day in identical conditions as this film.Incredable wave it has everything,fast hollow bending bowling in that that scenic cove.Even walk was so fun.Never thought about going off the point there but heaps respects to this guy shown here doing it.I surfed all around Australia during that time.And place one of my faves along with Kirra,Noosa,little Black Rock Aussie pipe and Left-handers in W.A. R.I.P fellow surfer in time blessed to have surfed..

You could stick to Lifeguarded beaches but of course that might raise the risk of experiencing a Shark Attack. The safest thing might be to stick with the gang. Buy a thick wetsuit. Always surf with a friend. Be aware of cross currents, rip currents. Whales !! Or maybe even get a job instead !! Of course folks might end up surfing alone. They should stick yo the beach break. Else buy a helmet and swim with a friend. Always paddling through the surf to get out the back might ebnsure an awareness of the power of the sea. Taking a short cut. By jumping off a point might end up in people taking on more they can handle !! Maybe if kids spend a lot of time at the beach they could join The Lifeguard Club ? And that way. Learn to swim safely and economically as The Club might share boards and have an equipment store .

I surfed Angourie in the early 60s when 4 was a crowd. Never ever considered that jump off. The paddle out from the beach was never that onerous. Plenty of sharks around however.

Damn, some serious drop ins at the beginning! Wonder if it was the locals or the surf school crew
@pihasurfschool Жыл бұрын
Definitely nothing to do with us and the drop ins didn't look good enough to be locals. There were no parks on the beach, we'd never seen the place so busy. It was worth including in the video so that drop ins know how bad they look.

@@pihasurfschool Well it was good to see you guys put a note on the video regarding that. I live near Byron and the surf schools don't teach them surf etiquette sadly. I'll be over in a month, hope i score some good waves like i always do when i visit beautiful NZ

Hiya! We are the beginner couple who surfed yesterday at Piha bar. We've been watching this KZbin channel quite often and didn't know you are the one record and upload. Big thanks for your effort to take videos and upload all of them. We hope the cut you accidentally got is alright and see you later!
