Wow! I haf this song on (i think) an old metal mag that haf a bunch of unsigned bands and i think the winner got a deal or something. I remember bands like Cicada, Labrat, and these guys in there. I loved this song ans spent ages trying to learn it on guitar!

Oh wow, no way! I know we were on a Metal Hammer compilation (I think it was them) which was very exciting, but we already had a deal - hence the album never coming out, because they lost all their funding nooooooo It's fun and weird to look back on that time of my life (more than two decades WTAF) - but incredibly cool to hear that *someone out there* (you!) was listening. I worked as a freelance music journalist or a Suffolk based magazine back when this came out and gave it rave reviews. For me this was the standout track off the album.

I saw The Bardo about 20 years ago at Brixton Academy, they were supporting Machine Head. People threw things and shouted many many insults at them. I remember Very clearly the blonde singer quickly moving his head as a bottle flew by missing him by an inch. By the end of the set he was very angry. Anyway, that memory popped into my head today and i felt inclined to look on KZbin for any videos of The Bardo. i would also just like to stress, that i was not one of those people insulting The Bardo. I just remember.

Is there live footage of 'Minefields' with Emily and the McCarricks at Breakfast with Appolo #1 available at all? Heard the audio but would be great to see. Loved that version with the strings. Was it ever properly recorded? 😍

Just discovered that you were in this band. Quite like it. Would I be right in assuming that the album recording sessions were never finished and the album was never released? I sense record company shenanigans.

Hi! Were you aware of The Bardo back in the day? Very few people were... the album did actually get recorded, mixed and mastered at ridiculous expense, but then the label said they weren't going to release it - their investors had pulled out and they didn't bother mentioning it to us! Shame not to actually get to share the music with people.

@@SheMakesWar I only found out about The Bardo a couple of months ago as they are listed as a band you were in at the top of the Laura Kidd discogs page (where your dance music collabs are). How did I miss that before? At the time of The Bardo's single releases (listed on The Bardo discogs page) I was working in the stockroom at Virgin Megastore at Cribbs Causeway, so if Riverman had anything like a good distribution deal copies of these may well have passed through my hands. This is assuming that any of them passed the promo stage. They did at least get the Jon Fryer version of To Inhabit onto Rock Sound and Metal Hammer covermount CDs. I have managed to get hold of a copy of each of the three listed releases and two of them have promo/PR stickers on them. Would the song Him Beneath on the third of these be your first published writing credit?
