I was happy to see a social flycatcher near Newton, Alabama shortly after a tropical storm occurred.

Disgusting behaviour. You should not be disturbing the birds like this. I had a great couple of days birding there and didn't need to go stressing the birds out.

Great video. I want to go there during fall migration. Where is a góod place to tent camp
@HuthAvian2 жыл бұрын
I believe you can camp free at Smith Oaks in the picnic area for up to 3 days. They usually require you to take down the tent each morning, but I'm not sure if they are as strict about it in the off season as they are during spring. You can contact Houston Audubon for more info. Otherwise, you can camp on the beach right down from High Island, just get a $10 beach parking permit from any local gas station or grocery store.

Seems kinda cruel, just drive there in the night and hear em clicking. You guys should know better than to disturb a species.

Another nice memory-stirring video from you! Back in 2010 our visit to Anahuac happily coincided with a Rail Walk, we didn't get any Black Rails, but at least one Yellow, and the appearance of one LeConte's Sparrow resulted in yet another Lifer added to the cart (the rail being the first of that walk). I say "coincided" since we knew nothing of the date of Rail Walk in Anahuac, even though we've read in birdguides that it existed. So, it happening the day-slots attributed to Anahuac on our carefully constructed (in Sweden, months and months beforehand) Texas bird trip was a *real* happy coincidence!
