Thanks for info,....i have always been amazed of the French influence in Trinidad, even though they never ruled in Trinidad, their influence was certainly huge.....looking forward for more info...

My Dad spoke patois a lot his family from north part of Trinidad we use to visit with them off as a little boy most off them spoke patois I remember a lot from their conversations thanks for bringing back memories and remember all the words 😆

Hello! I think that you know french. I must write in french for learn something. I share a history for you and others. Un esprit curieux dont se souvient lhistoire. Quel souvenir aimeriez-vous laisser? Qu'e'voquera votre nome dans les memoires? Il y a 500 ans, un homme d'amerique centrale a souleve des questions fort interessantes. C'e'tait un chef indigene du nom Nicarao (dou vient, semble-t-il "Nicaragua"). Ce nom en est venu a designer sa tribu, la terre ou il a ve'cu et le grand lac qui s'y trouve. Ladite tribu vivait sur une bande de terre situeo entre l'oce'an pacifique et l'immense lac Nicaragua. Une region que les espagnols ont entrepis d'explorer peu apres la de'couverte du nouveau monde par Christophe Colomb. C'est ainsi que le capitaine Gil Gonzalez Davila a mene' ses troupes au nord de l'actuel Costa Rica et a pe'ne'tre' su le territoire de Nicarao en 1523. Imaginez l'apprehension des explorateurs. Pour quoi? Avansant en terre inconnue, cougars, jaguars, cocodriles, snakes, mosquitoes!! Comme ils ont du etre heureux de rencontrer notre homme! Pour quoi? Avec la ge'ne'rosite' qui aujourd'hui encore caracte'rise la culture nicaragueyenne, la population a accuelli les espagnols en leur offrant des pre'sents dont une bonne quantite d'or. Nicarao se posait depuis long temps certaines questions. Ses conversations avec les espagnols en ont suscite' d'autres encore. Voivi, selon des chroniqueurs, ce quil a deman de' au capitaine Gil Gonzalez Davila: As-tu entendu parler d'une grande inondation qui a de'truit tous les hommes et animaux? Dieu inondera-t-il encore la terre? Que passe -t-il apres la mort? This questions only God can give answers with the Bible. Questions de science: Comme le soleil, la lune et les etoiles se de'placent-ils? Comment sont-ils suspendus dans le ciel? A quelle distance sont-ils? Quand cesseront-ils de briller? D'ou vient le vent? Qu'est-ce qui cause le chaud et le froid, la lumie're et l'bscurite'? Pour quoi la dure'e des jours variet-elle au cours de l'anne'e? Genese 1. De toute evidence, Nicarao avait soif d'en apprendre sur la nature qui l'entourait. Ses questions re've'lent des centres d'interet et des preoccupations similaires a ceux de beaucoup aujourd'hui. Par ailleurs, l'inondation dont lui et son peuple avaient connaissance n'est pas sans rappeles le de'luge de la Bible---Genese 7:17-19. Ses interrogations attestent en fait l'action de la conscience. A ce propos, on lit sous la plume de l'apotre Paul: "Leur conscience temoigne avec eux et (...), entre leurs pense'es, ils sont accuses ou meme excuses". Romains 2:14,15. I love learning of similarities in cultures. It's always nice to be reminded that the world has been sharing different aspects of culture with each other fo as long as people have been migrating to different lands. The history that it reminds me of is not exactly joyous but we can still appreciate that it binds us. Haiti paved the way for our freedom and for that, your country will always have my respect.

I actually don't speak Patois so these are just the words we still use in daily speech. However I will work on getting someone to do a couple lessons for youtube.
