Might be a big ask of a question, BUT who is your opinion of the ‘02 Cyclones but of today?

I was a graduate student at ISU the season after Johnny Orr's initial arrival on campus in 1980. Man, he built quality, and brought so much excitement to the basketball program over my time there! Hell, I still recall standing in line to register for classes and seeing Jeff Hornacek in the same queue. Nice work, lads! The channel is high quality, and you guys keep it real and highly informative for us clones. All the best to you going forward.

We need to get Milan to watch tons of Larry Bird's highlights.. Milan needs that playmaking take over a game mentality...what's your thoughts??

I had occasion to meet a former Big 8 official some years ago whose first game at Hilton became famous for Johnny Orr T'd up and ejected. The team wasn't doing well, and on a time out Orr made a big show of chewing out one of the refs, who surprisingly was chuckling as he huddled with the rest of the crew before resuming play. According to the story, the other refs asked him what he was laughing about. Evidently Johnny had told him "well coach, I've had about enough of this s**t. Next time something happens down at the other end, I'm going to throw my coat on the floor. I want you to toss me out of the game." Sure enough, next trip down the court, someone hits the floor under the basket. Johnny takes off his jacket and throws it on the floor. No technical. Johnny shouts and yells, trying to get someone's attention, no technical. So he starts walking, and none of the officials notice until he's clear out by the center circle. That's when they hit him with a double technical and away he went. His teams always kicked into high gear when he was ejected. They went on to win and the Des Moines Register featured a big picture and the headline "Johnny's Long Walk."

Agree on kst ISU trophy. 2 tractors on side & combine on top. John Deere or Case sponsor it, with $10,000 nil on the line.

An iowa state/k state trophy could be cool. Make it a combine but switch a corn or wheat head depending on who wins

Your mention of Ellis Hobbs reminds me of a favorite ISU memory. It’s from the 2004 Independence bowl. Prior to the game at the ISU pep rally I remember thinking wow this one guy is so confident on stage, he’s ready to go. He’s gonna make a big play to help win the game. That was Ellis Hobbs. Oh yeah, he did with the late pic to seal the deal kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGa9dmWchquEaMU

In actuality, it would have no effect on ticket prices. They will never charge more than market value for tickets or people won't buy them. If things took a turn for the worse, ticket prices would likely go down right alongside the product.

Currently media is so focused on SEC & Big10 as forever future domination. When I attended ISU, dominant football was exclusively Big 8. It was Nebraska with OU then Mizzou or Colorado & occasionally ISU. The top 2 were almost always in the national top 3. Big 12 just needs to regularly have an argument that the top team is the national best to force inclusion. Time will turn it around.

I like your thinking on a possible Big 12 birth in CFP, but in saying that Sankey already at SEC days lobbying for 3 to 4 lose SEC teams in CFP. This ESPN monopoly just sucks, the Big 10 might even feel this at some point.

Chris is right about Veenkner. Brutal course. And he says he lost a ton of balls. When I was at ISU in early 80s, I was so poor my GF and I would walk the woods for balls, got many hundreds of 'em!

...Jesus H. Christ Williams...you go almost the whole interview w/ the head coach then you go into all-star wrestling camparisons?!!! ...Campbell God-damned near rolled his eyes! ...if you were half as "promotional" regarding Iowa State and/or college wresting as opposed to that hillbilly-shit you're always bumping you gums about you might generate a wider regional audience...starting to shut you off when you vier into that shit...guess I'll start watchin' Kurtz or maybe the guys from Waco... ...Jesus that shit's gettin' old quick...

...maybe the greater goal then an undefeated non-con schedule is going undefeated at home... ...do you realize Iowa State has never gone 5-0, 6-0, 7-0 at Clyde Williams Field or Jack Trice or before...look it up... ...Johnny Majors, Earl Bruce, Donnie Duncan, Paul Rhoads & Campbell haven't ever achieved that goal...& we know Criner, Waldon (good God) & Chizek never even came close! ...we lost THREE at home LAST season...I was happy with the way our team bounced back...but imagine if we'd won those home games?!!! ...defending home field MUST be a priority!
