Cannot recommend AUSNZ SimRacing highly enough! Great bunch of people who host multiple RaceRoom events every week and super welcoming. The Tuesday Thunder format is awesome for good racing too, especially with the safety car in the first race, gives people a chance to bunch up again and have another go if they had a spin or were still getting used to the car in the first half. Then of course, race 2 puts everything on its head 🤣 Some great memories racing with AUSNZ and hoping to get back racing again with them ASAP, can't make tomorrow but hopefully next week 🤞 shame because my first ever race with these guys was here at Zolder and this is bringing back some nice memories. Have fun mate, see you out on track soon no doubt!

Does this still work in 2024 for you? I tried to set it up recently, and couldn’t tell if it was working or not. I will double check a couple of settings from your video (I didn’t configure vJoy, or select the wheel from accFFB). Still, ACC recognised the vJoy control… and strangely, the gain in ACC seemed to still work, so I’m not sure is accFFB has completely taken over

Very underrated channel, loved your raceroom videos recently. It's a shame raceroom does not have the popularity it deserves compared to ACC for example, which to me looks bad, runs bad and feels bad... But I guess GT3 brings more people.

It's doing pretty well since the update: over 1,000 users daily. I expect it will drop back to around 300-400 eventually though.

It comes down to preference. To me, ACC has much better physics and the mirror is much better sized, and the track/circuits are much more realistic.

Now I've played way more RR than any other racing sum, but even with this new graphics update, the game looks at least 15 years out of date. In the last couple of years I've been playing at lot of GT7 in both flat screen and vr and the difference in visual quality is absolutely massive.

I like RR now, haven't played it for a while because it looked so dull. It's not better than AMS2 for example but RR is more enjoyable now than before

@@happilyaverageracer well , I'm not really into night time racing. Moreover most of the tracks irl just don't support(have facilities) for night racing, so even if we have it, it should be limitation depending on track. As in GT7. For the lights, it's a weak point in re. You can take R32 Gr.N and turn on the front lights, it will be almost 2d visible texture with sharp edge when light ends. For the rain, it would be awesome, to have something like in Ams2. Agree here

How GPU intensive is it? I run a 5700XT, Reverb G2 and am just happy with Rf2 and AMS2 but can get fps problems at times, despite small field of cars and the benefit of Open XR over Steam VR?

Raceroom is almost purely CPU intensive, but runs well on 10 year old machines, so you should have no issues. Just play around with the settings a bit once ingame.

I used to run RaceRoom on a Ryzen3 1200 with gtx970, with most settings at high (reduced shadows etc.) and got a consistent 60fps

For driving sims graphics are so far down the list of importance for me personally. Great graphics don’t make for great driving experiences. AMS2 looks pretty ( almost cartoonish ) and has great performance, but has really weird handling and you powerslide for speed, plus terrible AI and online. Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC look decent but again dumbed down easy to manipulate physics like AMS2. Then the contrasting sims raceroom and rf2 not the best looking and dated, but the physics and handling are incredible, great online and for the most part decent AI. RBR again not exactly pretty and very dated but still more immersive to drive. I’ll take immersive handling and physics over pretty graphics all day everyday.

I ran the so called Ugly Ducky in 4K on a wide screen curved with TrackIR v5 and prior to this update is was not ugly. But... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. LOL

Yeah there are certainly aspects of the old version that I like but as an overall experience when you add the lighting changes/reflection/shadow/shader improvements the new version feels.a lot more immersive and alive

The latest update is a graphics update. That's the point. Tire model, physics and FFB have already been done. Update also has some new cars and tracks.

A lot is the color.pallette but reflections and road surfaces are different too. . It's fantastic from inside the cockpit and just makes the experience better

Thanks mate, I find the extra gear is necessary purely for traction in these cars. I was actually using 3rd out of T1 most of the time too (think I used 2nd this lap)

Problem with going down to 1st is that your slowing the car down for longer than when using 2nd or 3rd (sounds like an obvious statement but that's what's happening) and then you have to build that momentum back up coming out of T1 while getting maximum wheel spin because you're in first gear...

It'll actually be easier to be honest 🤣 I've got friends who can only use the paddles too and it's obviously a lot less coordination needed but can be just as fast. I just like to do it the hard way just for the sense of authenticity lol

I've never raced online. I have been solo racing for 25+ odd years and I don't consider myself a rookie. But would I be? My preference is AMS2 but I have the other titles as well (except RRE). It's on of the reasons I didn't get deep into iracing (plus the cost). I might be tempted to have a go. I don't need to win, but I like fair competition.

That’s cool. I download Raceroom today. Pleasantly suprised. FFB is good, was a bit light on the wheel until I discovered the FFB multiplier option for each car. Pumped that up a bit for each car and ended up with a nice weighty feel.

I have actually sweated from head to chest with this car, and even now it still happens alot in my RBR runs. The sway from the old suspension is insane, it makes every turn a fun hassle for your arms. Nice run! Keep it up. God Bless.

That looks extremely fun, imagine if these guys did do class racing with the Gen 3 Mustang and Camaro, the Gen 2 Falcon, Mustang, Commodore, Altima and the COTF S60 and E63, I'd love that. Can't wait to be back into this game and reclaim these cars back, hopefully I should be able to do full on laps like McLaughlin soon.

@@happilyaverageracer Oh yeah great, I just thought of that considering the oh so good physics, that's why I'll never use Iracing, I definitely want a simulator that has official (including Australian and NZ) race tracks and has all V8 Supercars ranging from 1993-present and many other categories like NASCAR, BTCC, DTM and GT racing, with great crash physics too, and online play too! All purchased once and never repaying again and again. That's the simulator I want.
