Not many people can say they've seen an old French film on 28mm, where a baby gets run over by a brass era car

A great historical document. A shame about the amateurish and laboured attempt at a rhyming narration, and that musical score by Dreyfus is quaint but laughable.

Wow indeed! Haha there’s an animated ad on TV now depicting a vehicle with just this type of system, advertising futuristic opportunities from en energy company I think. Might have to send them this link and tell them their creatives are a century behind the times. 😂

As an 8 y.o boy every Sunday mum would pack me a lunch of jam sandwiches and cake then dad would take me here and leave me to spend the day with his mate Ernie (I think he's the younger driver). I rode up and down all day, in the loco and in the guards van. This is where my love of trains began. Thank you for posting this, I searched Belmont Common railway not expecting to find anything, I can't believe footage of this has survived.

My mob arrived from Scotland in 1855 and settled in Newtown. I look at some of the buildings in town and think to myself.. this was being built back then.. Beautiful city if the council would leave it alone and stop putting in bike paths that ppl dont use.. And would be so nice if they would build parking (for free or max $5 a day) at the hospital and the train station.

A Navy I joined in 1965, no woman at sea, no political correctness, you could come back onboard after a run ashore without the worry of being run in for drunkenness as long as you could do your job. The camaraderie that I still enjoy today with mates I made all those years ago.

In todays modern society and world, I doubt broads would flock to you when you have well combed hair. Broads today ignore men, it isn't like it use to be back in the good ole days. So it's best that men don't even bother themselves with broads, women have been nothing but a pain in the butt since the very begining of time itself. It's better if a man fixes up his car, or lifts weights or gets into some sports activity to occupy his time with then waste it on women who today do nothing but make a fool out of him.

Any experts here? I had a 10 with two small round lights on each side at the front. I cant for the life of me see any other car with indicator and side lights. They all have just one small round white light on either side. Was this an option or a modification someone made. Always looked factory to me. Anyone know???

No mention of the footy? It's a huge part of Geelong. This film was made in the 50's and the Cats had won premierships in 1951 and 1952, would think that would get a mention

I was thinking that too. This film was probably made to attract British migrants, who wouldn't cared about Aussie Rules

Unsung heroes are the war cameramen. Officially not soldiers so not armed and no protection but often at the front line of battle. There is a very excellent doco called 'Shooting War' that covers this topic really well. I have in my collection a Vinten 35mm news camera named The Normandy as it was the model used in the infamous invasion in WW2. It is extremely heavy built out of solid iron and virtually indestructible. Only holds about 100 feet of film and couldn't imagine how difficult running around loading films all the time, clockwork winding to keep it running, changing focus, turret lenses, and aperture manually while dodging bullets, grenades and bombs. Keeping films from getting wet and getting them sent back to HQ somehow to be processed, edited, narrated, printed, and out to theatres and news reel theatres, often within a very short time.

This title is used at the end of Midsomer Murders, Season 18, Episode 2 - Incident at Cooper Hill: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHvGmZWlbqlqnZo I assume it was just created for that episode, rather than pay royalties on a scene from "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers".

This would have been shown in movie theatres as part of a newsreel loop. The first post war Council election was held in 1946 and this is political advertising mostly based on stock footage and possibly heavily edited for length to meet an advertising budget. During WW2 Brisbane's economy received a major boost from the basing and transit of U.S. and allied troops and the end of the war saw the need to borrow to maintain infrastructure.
