Hi, I saw you dropped the tire pressure quite a lot in those sand dunes. Would be interesting to know for our Sprinter how low you drop the pressure; about 1.5 bar?

Hello, great video and informative. I'm in the process to convert my 2023 AWD sprinter into camper, my question to you is in regard the Wheels & Tyres. I visited a tyre shop and there was resistance to fit a 17" Wheel and Tyre to suit, If I may ask what did you do for your setup? Fitted at a Tyre shop or got them delivered and fitted for self? I was told the van could be not complainant? I'm just catching on your KZbin videos as well I'm following you guy's journey. Cheers B, Brisbane bayside.

Hi . sorry for slow reply . I think legally 255x65x16 may be the biggest by law. Ours were fitted by Bob Jane in Noosaville where we purchased the rims and tyres and yhey had no issues. ours are 265x75x16. the reason for 16 is the higher the tyre wall the more flex you get which helps offroad. Hope that helps. There is a Sprinter get together 31st Jan at Inskip Point if you are interested. Cheers

I was hooked, and watched to the end. There are two rites of passage for newcomers: your first lock, and crossing Lake Alexandrina. This boat had a magic crossing. I did too, but was in a fleet leaving Wellington in darkness to enter the lake on first light, and be across before wind came (typically midday).

I've done from the top of Lake Hume to the mouth in my 9 m four-berth shallow-draft cruiser. I've also done the lonely Wentworth - Renmark section in two preserved paddlesteamers. Your video brings back fond memories, and showcases our Australian river and sun for a world audience. I've been putting up my photos to my flickr site, as a thankyou to the many people who have placed their videos on youtube: kayakers, tinnies, cruisers, paddleboats. People inspired to follow in your wake can do most of it in hired boats, and Goolwa - Renmark commercially. My favourite is preserved PS Marion, based at Mannum and operated by volunteers. Every 2 years it voyages to Berri for survey slipping.

Very nice and impressive. Which engine is it? And is it the original low range from Mercedes or did you change it? The lockers aren‘t standard or are they?
@NuMoonvl49362 ай бұрын
hi engine is the older v6 but the new one has similar power torque figures. Lockers are ARB fitted and supplied and cost about $6000. rear spring pack from Gympie cured a few evils the van has as did better shockies. Cheers

You are very kind to share your experiences and to respond to long questions like the one above. You really deserve much more views because you are the most informative MB Sprinter channel when it comes to practical upgrades for difficult sand / desert and beach driving. Thank you for sharing your adventures and information ❤
@NuMoonvl49362 ай бұрын
Hi Have a look on our channel NuMoonvl4936. I made a video on exactly that problem. I first had a leaf added but it did not really work. The new Spring pack from Gympie spring works made such a difference . I have fitted Koni adjustable shocks and coil overs in the front. If you would like to chat my number is 0422600109. Cheers Don

Thanks for sharing. Please help to clarify the following: Most sprinters bounce like yo-yos in deep soft sand then get stuck especially on inclines. This is mainly due to soft springs in the back and loss of traction. Your Jumbo does not. Did you overcome this with suspension upgrades? And with a rear locker? I would like to ask you opinion on the Agile Offroad Suspension upgrade (you can google Sprinter 2500 4×4 RIP Kit) and their ARB locker for the Sprinter ? do you think they will solve the problem? Of course tires and tire pressure is going to be taken care off also.
@alman30712 ай бұрын
Do you think the Agile off-road RIP suspension kit upgrade will have the same effect to overcome the yo-yo of the sprinter in sand?

Great video, we have a sprinter V6 4x4 LWB, but have not been able to but it to serious use yet. We intend to go to WA next year. What modification would you recommend, we intend to do some beach driving, Gib River Road, nothing to serious. How do you find the ground clearance and does diff lock much difference?
@NuMoonvl49362 ай бұрын
sorry for the slow response Underbody protection engine gearbox and diff plus hand brake and bottom shocky mounts. taller tyres to give more wall flex and softer ride when deflated , we changed shocks to Koni , diff lock not necessary if not pushing it too hard, our new spring pack is a big improvment. over just adding an extra leaf which we did first. Aggie keeps suggesting we do a mods video cheers.
@gandbnomadsinthehorizon78982 ай бұрын
@@NuMoonvl4936 Thanks heaps for the reply, our van has standard Mercedes shocks, did the Koni shocks give worthwhile improvement? We do have underbody protection, engine gearbox etc.. I would love to see a mods video. Many thanks for your reply. Cheers Geoff

@gandbnomadsinthehorizon7898 hi. Yes koni shocks helped on middle setting . They come from factory in soft setting.
@NuMoonvl49363 ай бұрын
We are very happy with them . They are Alloy so not rocksliders but there are a lot of skid marks on ours so they have kept the van off immovable objects. Made in the Gold Coast Jim Hunt 0404516763

Hi, wondering Is this the standard Jayco sprinter all terrain AWD with a diff locker added? Or a full Mercedes sprinter 4x4, was that an option when you bought from Jayco?
@NuMoonvl49363 ай бұрын
Hi. Yes we had the choice but went for the v6. However the AWD will be OK. The previous VW Amaroks performed quite well so Mercs will as well.

Hi, I love your videos of your adventures. So good to see. That Merc is amazing I’m very impressed where you have been able to take it. How many spare tyres do you have & what tyres are you running? Also does the Merc have a lift kit or is that the standard height of the 4x4 model? Thanks

Hi .we run 265x75x16 tyres .just the 1 spare . The 4x4 Sprinters are lifted by Merc. Its offroad ability never ceases to amaze us but not made for rock crawling.
