My cousin bought a used L89 Vette in 1971 shortly after getting home from the Vietnam war. The Vette was either a 67 or 68. I can't remember.

This wasn't a secret GM car, GM had nothing to do with the Yenkos, the Hursts (At least through 1975), SLP, and so on. These were modified outside of GM by dealers, and/or performance companies but sold and warranted by the respective divisions/dealers

Pontiac was always my favorite division of GM. Such a shame they hamstrung it and later on did away with it. Had GM loosened the purse strings just a little and didn't have that stupid Corvette rule the Pontiac during the 1980s could have given us a world beater in the Fiero. Instead they had to scrounge for parts from commuter cars. It didn't get the suspension it deserved until 1988, the year they killed it, and it never got the engine it deserved. All they had to do was chuck an engine that was at least 200hp into it and it's gonna smoke it's contemporary competitors. I always preferred the Trans Am as opposed to the Camaro. Ridiculous plastic body cladding aside Pontiacs always had that little bit extra than the other GM divisions. I love the Corvette but it's gotten in the way of what could have been.

I hate the fact that GM didn't let Pontiac compete against the Corvette and other GM divisions. Pontiac and their performance would have pushed the other GM divisions to do better. America could had a choice between the Banshee or the Corvette. A choice between Buick or Cadillac. And General Motors could have been left laughing all the way to the bank! Cause either way, you are buying a General Motors car! 🚗

Sadly soon all gas cars will be banned!!!! in EU and USA! In France they have a new banning law for ICE cars called SCHLABOUBVE and in Switzerland the HESCHLAVVO law! In Scandinavian countries soon there will be a so called SMORVERBIDEN law. In Germany from 2027 the new BABVVO and TEBBVO laws by the green peoples party will bann all gas cars from public streets only exception will be professional commuter trips and state-certified transports)
