Clerks and Chasing Amy were brilliant movies. Mallrats, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks II are definitely products of their time, but they’re entertaining and hilarious. “Artifice” or not, they at least recall an era when comedy had fewer constraints. Clerks III, like much of Smith's work in the past decade, is self-indulgent hogwash plagued by his narcissism. Smith’s unmistakable insecurity undermines his own efforts. The way he rambles on in this video is cringe-worthy, but that original script for Clerks III had the potential to be an engaging dark comedy if it retained a sense of humor. What we ended up getting in its place was far more deserving of a spot on the cutting room floor.

Honestly, I have always connected with Randal since I was a teen. When this movie hit home media, I had a friend who had just died, someone who I could have been better to, right before they passed. I had torn my lung, almost dying myself. When I got to the end I could not stop sobbing

I went to the cinema to see clerks 2 😢 I refused to go see 3 because of the enormous feeling that it was going to be 3 times as bad as 2 !!!! If he made this version I think it would have renewed my faith in this man !

In a way id like to think if there's ever a clerks 4, they could make the movie solely about Randal finding love where its a great comedy with some sad reflections about dante - but in the end, they adapt this from old clerks 3 script and randal ends up giving the quick stop to Elias Just a thought, but that would be milking it i guess, i think it's possible to make a sequel that actually ends on a high note. Its doable Brian o'halloran could also return as Gill Hicks! He could end up working with Randal, theres some good possibilities here

Clerks brought tears to my eyes. It was ALSO the most honest movie I ever saw. It WAS my life at the time. However, nowadays... i enjoy Smith just talking more than his movies 🎬.

I love how Kevin has gotten healthier and started to look after himself, but he's taken the 'not changing the way I look' to the extreme like... he looks like he wears the same exact clothes... they're far too big for him? He looks like a year 7 on his first day of high school. To the Americans, imagine you at age 13 in your dads suit.. that kinda thing. He's lost all this weight, awesome. good for him! but it just looks so odd to me.. and it's not because he lost weight. A lot of people have lost weight in my life n look normal. Kevin just looks like he wears the same clothes as he did before.. I love the guy.. but idk just looks off...

Smith was never a particularly good filmmaker. But he was an entertaining podcast host/ guest. Now he's not even that. His need to constantly post pics of himself crying is very bizarre. Has he developed some type of mental condition? Something doesn't seem right with him anymore.

glad to see kelly seems to be doing alright considering he hasn't made a film since the box. really wish he was able to make more films because we need more stuff from him whether its good or not, he will always have his audience on his side.

I wonder when his Donnie darko sequel is coming he announced back in 2021, he had written a lot for the script but when is it gonna happen, I messaged him on Twitter and he has not responded. I just want a Donnie darko sequel one that’s better than that S. Darko film he had nothing to do with

he's been working on a bunch of projects though with Darko Entertainment like Corpus Christi and a Donnie Darko sequel. he also wrote a bunch of screenplays that ended up not being produced. you don't see that stuff on IMDb (he also wrote a draft for Knowing which he was attached to as a director that ended up being directed by Alex Proyas). but he's been working on projects ever since The Box even though nothing is officially announced yet. I really really really hope we're going to see a new Richard Kelly movie in the next few years. I've been waiting and looking for updates for the past 14 years. I really hope he's gonna make the Donnie Darko sequel. he said he's "not allowed" to talk about it but that they already have had a lot of work done on it. he also said that he met James Cameron one day and that Cameron encouraged him to do the sequel. anyway... I don't know why it's been taking so long but he's been working on multiple projects and we should get to see another Richard Kelly movie someday, hopefully soon.

I love Kevin Smith, I don't love every single one of his movies, but I love the guy regardless. I do love the Clerks trilogy but my favorite movie is Chasing Amy. I also really, really love Dogma.

Kevin Smith is super charismatic and such a good story teller. But he uses "and shit" like most people use "um" when talking. I stopped counting after 100 "and shit's."
